The Flydubai captain regained consciousness and told how the co-pilot attacked him An Indian pilot helped save more than 150 people aboard a Flydubai flight traveling from the UAE to Israel. Smith Matchhar is currently in a hospital in Abu Dhabi. He told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi how he managed to open the cockpit door. After the attack, he lay on the floor and felt that the plane was falling. Despite his severe injuries, the captain forced himself to get up and open the door from the inside. After that, passengers were able to enter the cockpit and neutralize the attacker. “I understood that the plane was falling. I fell to the floor. I told myself: the door is right there, just open it. I managed to do it, and people came in,” Matchhar said. After an emergency landing in Tabuk, the captain was taken to a hospital and then transferred to Abu Dhabi. According to The Telegraph, his condition is stable. The co-pilot, an Omani citizen, was also taken to hospital. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he was an Islamist and wanted to carry out a suicide attack. At this point, it remains unknown how the pilot managed to bring a knife on board.
