Conor Neill: "If you can't write it clearly, the thinking was weak, not the writing" "To believe that something that feels clear in your head is thinking that's a very dangerous thing. When you try to put it down on a page, when you try to lay out your ideas in a structured order that someone else can digest, and you realize that you can't, I suggest the thinking was weak, not the writing." Neill explains his philosophy: "Writing is thinking. The process of taking a notepad, capturing thoughts, laying out the things that I'm thinking about, that is thinking. Sitting and staring out a window, maybe with a cigarette, whatever it is that you think is philosophizing that is not structured thinking. It's only when you're writing down and structuring, getting order into your thoughts on a page so that another person is able to get into the context, the perspective, the different things that you are pulling in to have your worldview." He shares a simple technique: "No matter what you are writing, whether it's an email, a Word document, when you've got a blank sheet of paper, start with the word 'This.' T-H-I-S. Starting with the word 'This' forces you to explain what the document is. It forces you to articulate to the reader what it is that they are holding. It forces you to describe why this document exists, what the objective is. And if you begin with the objective, it helps the reader, and it helps you articulate clearly why you are taking the time to write." Neill shares the most-read post on his blog: "The one post that has got far more views than any other is a post I wrote called 'Why Amazon Banned PowerPoint.' In Amazon, if a presenter wishes to ask people to agree to a budget, to agree to give them resources, they don't use PowerPoint. They write a six-page Word document that states why they are asking for the money and the resources." He explains Jeff Bezos's reasoning: "PowerPoint is easy for the presenter, but it's hard for the people who listen. Writing a six-page essay is hard for the presenter, but it's a lot easier for the people that get to read the document." And there's a second part to the Amazon method: "In the management meeting, the first 20 minutes is reading time. If you have gone to the effort to write six pages explaining your proposal, you deserve to see your work read. You deserve to sit there and see people reading through your work. People will not read before the meeting. The only way you get people to fully digest the six pages is by holding them there for 20 minutes, reading through, noting down their questions. No debate, no discussion until everyone in the room has read all six pages, has taken in the context, has time to think about what they would like to question. After 20 minutes of silent reading, they can have a discussion but an informed discussion." Neill shares a second insight about writing: "Divide writing from editing. Writing is producing words. Editing is improving words. These two processes — you cannot run at the same time." He explains his approach: "Most writers just vomit out a bad first draft. I personally have learned to produce 500 words in one straight blast. If something's wrong, if I need to check a fact, if I want to go back and fix something, I don't. I go 500 words of just getting it out onto the page. When I've got 500 words, then I'll stop and begin the process of editing." Neill shares what great writers understand: "All great writing is rewriting. It's editing. It's the crafting of taking a bad, crappy first draft and slowly iterating it, improving it 1% each time through. But if you haven't got that first draft, there's nothing to improve." He explains how separating these processes changed everything: "Learning to separate these two was one of the most powerful things to get rid of writer's block, to get rid of getting stuck, to get rid of procrastination. Would you believe an AI agent can test a real VR action game in real time, the way a person plays it? Meta XR Operator makes it possible. As far as I know, this is the first time. I am not talking about tapping a menu or replaying a recorded click path, but genuinely moving, shooting, and using the same game mechanics a human player does. In NeonReach VR, which is a real (and open source) action game, rings spawn 12m out and come at you somewhere between 1.5 and 5.5 m/s, getting faster over a 90 second ramp. There are three kinds: straight, weaving side to side, and spinning. Every shot is a full slingshot cycle, so you press, pull back, aim, then release. Obstacles arrive at head height and cost you a life if you don't get out of the way. You have ten lives. Here is why the game is hard for an AI agent. Even though Meta XR Operator gives the agent everything it needs to observe the app and act inside it, the agent still cannot play. One agent turn takes 10 to 15 seconds. One throw is four steps that have to happen in order, because the press has to latch before the pull, and they cannot be batched into a single call. So a throw costs about 45 seconds. A fast ring only exists for 2.3 seconds. One action takes 20x longer than the target is alive. Prompt tuning does not close a gap that size. What works is a three stage path: EXPLORATION, then SKILL, then SCRIPT. 1/ EXPLORATION. The agent drives the live app and works the game out on its own. It verified the coordinate mapping by setting a pose and reading it back, then derived the launch model. The more useful output was the traps it found. For example, the player's own body collider silently deflects a ball released inside it, with no error and no log line. That produced two confident wrong conclusions before anyone caught them. 2/ SKILL. All of that gets written down as a reusable SKILL.md plus an aim solver. There is a section that separates what was actually verified from what was assumed, so a wrong conclusion cannot quietly turn into doctrine. This stage also produced the trick that mattered. Set timeScale to 0 and a throw becomes atomic in game time, so however long the agent spends thinking never shows up in the shot. 3/ SCRIPT. The agent then compiles everything into a player script, a loop that observes, decides, and throws, calling the MCP servers directly from Python with no model in the hot path. Would you believe an AI agent can test a real VR action game in real time, the way a person plays it? Meta XR Operator makes it possible. As far as I know, this is the first time. I am not talking about tapping a menu or replaying a recorded click path, but genuinely moving, shooting, and using the same game mechanics a human player does. In NeonReach VR, which is a real (and open source) action game, rings spawn 12m out and come at you somewhere between 1.5 and 5.5 m/s, getting faster over a 90 second ramp. There are three kinds: straight, weaving side to side, and spinning. Every shot is a full slingshot cycle, so you press, pull back, aim, then release. Obstacles arrive at head height and cost you a life if you don't get out of the way. You have ten lives. Here is why the game is hard for an AI agent. Even though Meta XR Operator gives the agent everything it needs to observe the app and act inside it, the agent still cannot play. One agent turn takes 10 to 15 seconds. One throw is four steps that have to happen in order, because the press has to latch before the pull, and they cannot be batched into a single call. So a throw costs about 45 seconds. A fast ring only exists for 2.3 seconds. One action takes 20x longer than the target is alive. Prompt tuning does not close a gap that size. What works is a three stage path: EXPLORATION, then SKILL, then SCRIPT. 1/ EXPLORATION. The agent drives the live app and works the game out on its own. It verified the coordinate mapping by setting a pose and reading it back, then derived the launch model. The more useful output was the traps it found. For example, the player's own body collider silently deflects a ball released inside it, with no error and no log line. That produced two confident wrong conclusions before anyone caught them. 2/ SKILL. All of that gets written down as a reusable SKILL.md plus an aim solver. There is a section that separates what was actually verified from what was assumed, so a wrong conclusion cannot quietly turn into doctrine. This stage also produced the trick that mattered. Set timeScale to 0 and a throw becomes atomic in game time, so however long the agent spends thinking never shows up in the shot. 3/ SCRIPT. Right after rationalising attacks on Arab countries simply because their foreign policy does not align with her worldview, she starts to lecture about Muslim unity and the Ummah. The rhetoric is hardly surprising. Their channel, Something Haute, was also blocked in India after repeatedly pushing extremist narratives and glorifying terrorism carried out by the Pakistani state as an instrument of foreign policy. Both Aamna Haider Isani and Hassan Choudary have a long record of dismissing some of the most brutal terror attacks in India as ‘false-flag operations’. From the 2008 Mumbai attacks to the Pahalgam terror attack, they have repeatedly promoted conspiracy theories that trivialise or rationalise terrorism. While they sermonise about the Ummah, they remain curiously silent as Pakistan pounds civilian areas across the border in Afghanistan, killing women and children. Even more telling, the same voices who justify attacks on Israel and constantly criticise American influence are often the first to queue outside U.S. embassies for visas. In fact, Aamna Haider Isani is travelling to the United States in the coming weeks. If these countries are so morally corrupt and their alliances make them legitimate targets of attack, why the eagerness to visit them? Why the rush for visas? Why the repeated trips? If you truly believe a country deserves a ‘wake-up call’ delivered through violence, the least you could do is show the intellectual honesty to stay away from it.

“Bahawalpur.” I still have chills in my heart from when I first heard that town’s name in late January 2002. For the 23 years since, I have reported on how Pakistani intelligence and military leaders have used that city — Bahawalpur — in the southern province of Punjab as a base for its homegrown domestic terrorists. When I heard India bombed training camps in Pakistan this week in Operation Sindoor, in response to a Pakistani terrorist rampage in India’s Kashmir state, I had one city’s name on my lips: Bahawalpur. Did India bomb Bahawalpur? It did. I knew then India was striking actual hubs for Pakistan’s homegrown domestic terrorism. Why do I know? My friend, WSJ reporter Danny Pearl, went to Bahawalpur in December 2001 with a notebook and a pen. Gen. Pervez Musharraf had just promised he was shutting down Pakistan’s militant groups after a strike by Pakistan’s terrorists against the Parliament in India, and Danny reported on the militant offices in Bahawalpur. He literally knocked on their doors. Dear Dr. Judea Pearl, this story is a window into Danny’s reporting enterprise. And because people will wonder: Danny was no cowboy. This was a calculated low-risk reporting trip because no journalist had been targeted for kidnapping in Pakistan. Around that time, Danny sent me an email: “I’m anxious to go to Afghanistan, but I’m not anxious to die.” What did Danny learn? The militant training camps were open for business in Bahawalpur. On Jan. 23, 2002, Danny left a home I had rented in Karachi, Pakistan, for an interview. I learned Danny’s fixer, Asif Farooqi, had arranged an interview for Danny through a man named “Arif.” Danny didn’t know it but Arif was the PR man for a militant group, Harkutul Mujahadeen. What was Arif’s hometown? Bahawalpur. The police launched a manhunt to find Arif in Bahawalpur. We learned Arif’s family faked a funeral for Arif. Police found him trying to board a bus in Muzaffarabad, across the country by Pakistan’s border with Kashmir. It is another town India said it bombed terrorist training facilities. Arif had handed Danny off to Omar Sheikh,a British-Pakistani dropout from the London School of Economics, radicalized in the 1990s in London mosques. He went to Pakistan to train in these militant training camps. Then he kidnapped tourists in India. He was caught and jailed but on Dec. 31, 1999, he was traded for hostages in the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. Omar Sheikh was freed with Pakistani terrorist leader Masood Azhar, whose family was allegedly killed this week by India’s air strike in Bahawalpur. Did Pakistan jail Omar Sheikh and Masood Azhar when they returned to Pakistan with a third terrorist, freed from India’s jails? No. Pakistan’s military and intelligence gave them safe passage. They used them as weapons against India. But in fact these domestic terrorists have waged war against innocents in Pakistan, like civil society activists, Benazir Bhutto, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, schoolchildren and countless others. Their extremism has ruined Pakistan, and Pakistanis can’t blame America for creating the mujahideen to fight the Soviets in the 1980s. Pakistan has had a duty to dismantle those terrorist bases — for even the safety of its own people. What India is doing is a strategic attack on terrorist bases Pakistani military and intelligence should have eliminated but never did in their obsession to take over Kashmir. You will see parallels in the propaganda messages against India and Israel. Like Hamas, Pakistani terrorists crossed a border to kill. Now, Pakistani propagandists call themselves victims of their “fascist” “colonizer” neighbor. My friend, WSJ reporter Danny Pearl, went to Bahawalpur in December 2001 with a notebook and a pen. Gen. Pervez Musharraf had just promised he was shutting down Pakistan’s militant groups after a strike by Pakistan’s terrorists against the Parliament in India, and Danny reported on the militant offices in Bahawalpur. He literally knocked on their doors. Dear Dr. Judea Pearl, this story is a window into Danny’s reporting enterprise. And because people will wonder: Danny was no cowboy. This was a calculated low-risk reporting trip because no journalist had been targeted for kidnapping in Pakistan. Around that time, Danny sent me an email: “I’m anxious to go to Afghanistan, but I’m not anxious to die.” What did Danny learn? The militant training camps were open for business in Bahawalpur. On Jan. 23, 2002, Danny left a home I had rented in Karachi, Pakistan, for an interview. I learned Danny’s fixer, Asif Farooqi, had arranged an interview for Danny through a man named “Arif.” Danny didn’t know it but Arif was the PR man for a militant group, Harkutul Mujahadeen. What was Arif’s hometown? Bahawalpur. The police launched a manhunt to find Arif in Bahawalpur. We learned Arif’s family faked a funeral for Arif. Police found him trying to board a bus in Muzaffarabad, across the country by Pakistan’s border with Kashmir. It is another town India said it bombed terrorist training facilities. Arif had handed Danny off to Omar Sheikh,a British-Pakistani dropout from the London School of Economics, radicalized in the 1990s in London mosques. He went to Pakistan to train in these militant training camps. Then he kidnapped tourists in India. He was caught and jailed but on Dec. 31, 1999, he was traded for hostages in the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. Omar Sheikh was freed with Pakistani terrorist leader Masood Azhar, whose family was allegedly killed this week by India’s air strike in Bahawalpur. Did Pakistan jail Omar Sheikh and Masood Azhar when they returned to Pakistan with a third terrorist, freed from India’s jails? No. Pakistan’s military and intelligence gave them safe passage. They used them as weapons against India. But in fact these domestic terrorists have waged war against innocents in Pakistan, like civil society activists, Benazir Bhutto, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, schoolchildren and countless others. Their extremism has ruined Pakistan, and Pakistanis can’t blame America for creating the mujahideen to fight the Soviets in the 1980s. Pakistan has had a duty to dismantle those terrorist bases — for even the safety of its own people. What India is doing is a strategic attack on terrorist bases Pakistani military and intelligence should have eliminated but never did in their obsession to take over Kashmir. You will see parallels in the propaganda messages against India and Israel. Like Hamas, Pakistani terrorists crossed a border to kill. Now, Pakistani propagandists call themselves victims of their “fascist” “colonizer” neighbor. It’s the Reverse Uno strategy of moral inversion, just like Dave Portnoy got from the Temple student who won’t take responsibility for promoting the “HATE THE JEWS” sign. Don’t fall for it. Nations, communities and people must own up to their extremism, from Bahawalpur to beyond.

Countries thinking there's going to be a global reset creating a China led world order, as CCP has made everyone believe for years are mistaken. The US has already put in place a sequence of events that is going to prevent this, and put China in its place, starting with the election of Donald Trump - as I had written months before he got elected (attached post). The US has already taken control of Panama canal and Venezuela. It is a matter of time before Cuba and all of South America are in US control. The US also wants Russia on its side and Russia will mostly pivot. It knows about the China influenced US deep state that created the Ukraine war and also removed Trump in 2020. It knows China is quietly taking over Russia's north east and may invade one day. It knows China's partnership with the US was one of reasons for the fall of the USSR. For which China got rewarded with business and tech by the US. Russia will silently pivot to be friendly with the west as soon as the Ukraine war is ended (the old DS is still preventing this influencing Europe against US wishes.) The US is already at work in Iran. Once the regime goes, most of the middle east will be under US control. Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh all have already been prepared to be under US fold. China has lost influence in South Asia. The US is also in control of most of the world's energy except Russia's. It is getting control of all shipping lanes and channels, especially if it exerts control on Greenland, which it is trying and may get, directly or indirectly. Those who can see all these events and connect them can understand what's happening. To think somehow China will be able to break the US hegemony, collapse the dollar without collapsing itself, and upend the world order in its favor is delusional as of now. A delusion created by the China propaganda in the last decade by influencing most of world's mainstream media and infiltrating world's social media. Not just people but many countries are still in this delusion I think. The CCP, of course, is not going to collapse without a fight causing a lot of issues in the world. Now, where this fight will be and how it will be done is anybody's guess. But my opinion has been it won't go for Taiwan. It won't go fight the US directly or indirectly. Which rules out Japan, Phillipines, and Korea. That leaves only India and Vietnam. But Vietnam's own communist party seems more aligned with China now. So that's why I say China will create conflict with India when things start going south at home. Because this conflict is manageable with no risk of US intervention and no threat of India escalating it into a devastating nuclear war as a responsible power. And by using Pakistan, it has a possibility of a limited propaganda win to keep citizens in China supporting the CCP. It already made preparation for this starting a conflict in 2020 during Covid when China was sure everything was going as per plan. It has tested India, found weaknesses and strengths, prepared itself to fill gaps, and is sitting tight for the next move. But whatever move China makes, the US will ensure it gets trapped and weakened. Be it India or Taiwan, be it another plandemic or planned dumping of US treasuries to hit the dollar, China can't escape without issues. Being a single party dictatorship, the political collapse is inevitable one day. India or the US can fight a war, lose some territory or strategic interest to China, the worst that can happen is public disillusionment, protests, a collapse of the govt and a new one elected. August Pfluger . “We never used this term of free and fair for the Pakistan elections” Replied Donald Lu. "There have been flaws in all previous elections, BUT the flaws in 2024 elections were the greatest". Leave out the parts that readers tend to skip. 2. Writing is an efficiency game. Whoever says the most stuff in the fewest words wins. 3. You have five seconds to catch somebody's attention on the Internet. If you didn't catch them with the headline or in the first two sentences, they're gone. 4. If you're stuck on a piece, go for a walk. 5. If an idea comes to you while you're out walking, email it to yourself immediately. 6. People don’t remember books; they remember sentences. 7. A good story is like leverage for ideas. An idea on its own might be boring, but if you tell a good story about someone interacting with that idea, you can get people to nod their heads and pay attention. 8. Great writing begins with great reading. 9. If you want to write better and more memorable sentences, ask yourself: "If somebody was reading this on Kindle, would they highlight this sentence?" If the answer is no, consider removing it. 10. Everyone should write. Why? Because everyone is full of ideas they’re not aware of. This means they’re also unaware of the value of their ideas, and this value can only be unlocked via writing. 11. Start with one brave sentence and see where it goes. 12. You haven't heard of most of them, but that doesn't matter because he wrote two classics: "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." 17. Mark Twain used to read aloud to his family and watch their reactions. If he saw them getting bored, he’d cut that part out. If he saw them getting excited, he’d double down on that section. 18. Success takes time. Don’t rush it. Morgan spent 14 years as a professional writer before he published his first book. In that time, he wrote more than 4,000 blog posts. 19.
