This is actually a clean concept, people just don't understand the rules But this is a travel, and not for the reason you think. After pump faking he re adjusts his pivot foot (left). If he doesn't do that it's clean

Gather. 2 steps. Jump stop. Pivot. But left foot wiggles. But to clarify—you can jump stop on one foot first, and also pivot after the jump stop? I didn’t know that.

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball NBA rules confuse me cause in reality the gather step should be right here and then he takes 3 steps

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball No, the "gather" is the point when you end your dribble, aka put both hands on the ball*. At this screenshot he is still dribbling, steps don't count until he ends his dribble.

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball Well his pivot heel and toe both move separately after ending the dribble

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball I thought the gather ended a step earlier

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball You don’t get a “gather” after each step. That would mean you could walk all the way down the court with no traveling calls ever as long as there’s a “gather” after each step. Ridiculous. And why the NBA is lame.

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball Left foot goes down as he is dragging back which would be gather, then right foot on three point line, then left right to get behind 3pt line… travel

@IndieCoug Looks to me like he gathers before the first right foot step but this angle doesn’t let us see his hands so can’t be sure

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball the call hinges on whether the gather is on the left or right foot. camera angle on the original vid is easier to see, and it’s from the point his left hand is under the ball and he’s cradling it toward his right hand, his left foot is still down. but it’s super close

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball It's a walk and if you think otherwise you don't know ball

@IndieCoug @mdwbasketball dumbest explanation ever. he contradicts himself by saying "ensuring the player is behind 3pt line". if he is not looking at the feet how does he know he is behind the 3pt line?
