The China Coast Guard (CCG) rescued 17 Filipino crew members after the cargo ship they were in capsized near Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea on the early morning of Jan 23. The CCG has joined forces with the Philippine Coast Guard, which arrived that same evening, to conduct a sector-by-sector search and rescue operation for four crew members who remain unaccounted for in the waters where the incident occurred.

Today, the 15 surviving Filipino crew members rescued by the China Coast Guard in the South China Sea safely returned to Manila. Early on the 23rd, a cargo ship carrying 21 Filipino crew members capsized and went missing about 55 nautical miles northwest of China’s Huangyan Island, territory claimed by both China and the Philippines, which has been a flashpoint for ongoing tensions and maritime confrontations in the South China Sea. The China Coast Guard immediately dispatched two vessels and aircraft for search and rescue, successfully saving 17 people (2 perished). Based on on-site photos, the China Coast Guard provided the Filipino crew with medical care, food and water, as well as places to rest. Afterward, the China Coast Guard handed over the rescued crew to the Philippine side and is continuing the search for the missing sailors. Just two days before this intense rescue operation, Manila announced plans for a nearly 70-day military exercise in the South China Sea, with the designated area including China’s Huangyan Island. Meanwhile, China claims that, as long as they comply with Chinese laws, foreign civilian vessels can freely navigate through its territorial waters and exclusive economic zone. Notably, CCG’s Sanmen ship, which participated in this rescue, has previously saved foreign crew members in Chinese waters, such as the 8 Korean sailors it rescued in the East China Sea last May.

#WATCH | Delhi: On Air India Phuket-Delhi flight facing severe air turbulence on 4th August, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu says, "...In terms of why the incident has happened, we have immediately alerted the DGCA to thoroughly investigate the situation. The moment the plane was landed, it was put in a separate hangar. The data recorder, the voice recorder, everything is in the possession of DGCA. They will thoroughly investigate how and why this incident happened. Only when we have the facts in front of us, we are going to make it public..." He also says, "...The moment the flight landed in Delhi, the medical assistance team immediately attended to them. All first aid and medical assistance that needed to be provided was done at the airport itself. There were some passengers and crew members who were observed to need more medical assistance, they were shifted to Medanta Hospital and also Fortis Hospital. In Medanta, 7 passengers were admitted yesterday but all of them - after thorough checkings and tests - were discharged. Spinal Injuries Centre, Fortis Centre - two passsengers were admitted yesterday. They both were also discharged but four crew members were admitted in Fortis where I also personally visited along with Ministry Team and DGCA Team. We interacted with crew members also. They have been very brave, even after that incident happened for 5 minutes and they were prone to certain injuries, the plane had to travel for 1 more hour. Even through that hour, the crew members provided all the assistance that was required. So, it was very brave of the women, the crew members who were on the flight..."

The #IndianNavy undertook medical evacuation of a 41 yr old Indian seafarer from #Singapore flagged tanker Eagle Veracruz, off #Kochi on #13Jun 25. An alert message of medical emergency of the crew was received from IFC-IOR. A #Seaking 🚁 from IN_Garuda was immediately launched and #INSSharda was also diverted. Not withstanding poor visibility due to prevailing monsoon & in absence of suitable landing spot, precise winching up of the patient was undertaken by the Seaking. The patient was successfully recovered and transferred to a hospital at Kochi for further treatment. The 2025–26 edition of the #IndianNavy's Annual Logistics Conference (ALC) was inaugurated on #28Jan 26 at Sri Vijaya Puram by VAdm Ajay Kochhar, #CINCAN.
