Its not even optimizing for speed, plenty of courses and subjects aren't focused in detail because of wanting high pass rates. If they did prioritize speed, students would learn far more in the early grades than they do currently.

You can change entrance exams all you like. The problem is the need for entrance exams. It is known from all developed countries, you don't need to filter out 98% of high school graduates to produce good university graduates.

Thinking differently , or departing from prescribed text book word by word answer in schools by teachers is not allowed on the ground that the special phraseology has to b learnt for full marks forgetting that substance or understanding is more important than cramming.

The report card from Harrisburg is in and the results are alarming. Just 12% of Harrisburg High School students are proficient in reading. Only 2% are proficient in math. And science proficiency is just 3%. Our students deserve better. It’s time for Pennsylvania to opt-in to the federal Education Freedom Tax Credit and give families real options at getting a quality education.

There is still a long way to go, but with a little patience and hard work, we will build the best education system in the world.
