Indie game devs are about to love me (or hate me) for this... I built an AI workflow (app included) that spits out spritesheets in minutes, from assets created on freepik. Breaking it all down below 👇

This is my most complex workflow yet... 2 years in the making, trying different stuff, and it finally works! It starts with a Nano Banana 2 image on @freepik spaces (link at the end), which we tweak into a full spritesheet. Let's dive in!

The prompts are in the Space, so don't sweat it. Here’s what we're doing: We start with the character, rotate them to the right, and get a back view. That gives us all the starting poses (just do a quick flip for the left view).

Alright, next up: creating the actual animations. How? We take our character frames and generate walk cycles, idles, shooting, jumping... literally whatever you need! Here, Kling 3.0 for the win.

I vibe-coded a custom app where you just upload those videos, pick the frames you want, and generate a downloadable spritesheet instantly. Want to see it in-game? Generate the animations for each pose, validate, and hit test! URL in the ALT text 😎

Now you know how it works and you’ve got the full toolkit. All that’s left are the exact prompts and the reusable Freepik Space, dropping the link right here! 👇

Hope you guys loved this one! Drop a follow @techhalla for more cutting-edge GenAI workflows as we keep pushing the boundaries of game dev. Leaving a like, repost, and bookmark on the first tweet helps me out a ton!

Interesting, but how does it handle PBR workflows for sprites? I'm looking for something that can take a look into the diffuse data and make the material data from it.

I'll investigate that!

Did you try Veo3.1? It gave some decent results

yup! solid option too :)

This is cool and I’ve built something similar for my wife that got the urge to build a game. Should OSS this and let’s build it up as a community.

100%, I'm improving it a little bit before launching it

@Mr_AllenT generation is commoditized. consistency across a full animation set without manual cleanup is still the hard problem.

Thank you man.. much love for this. I got a really nice game mapped out and just waiting for some current projects to finish and guides like this to align to go all in on something

@shaneswrld_ glad to help, I'm trying to develop my own game so I'm sharing what I'm getting from time to time haha

Nice, I have also built sprite sheet generator on Easy-Peasy AI. I like that it can remove background automatically and split sheet into frames and display it as a gif.

What about assets someone created themself?

you'll be able to include them, 100%

Automating sprite sheets is a huge workflow win

Yupp

The fact that indie devs can now generate full spritesheets from a workflow instead of spending days on assets is a real shift. This kind of tooling is what actually lowers the barrier for small studios in places like Africa where you don't have big budgets.

yeah, that's the idea! I want to democratize game dev, so anyone with an idea can build their own.

That's the part that actually matters. When the tools stop being the gatekeepers, creativity takes over. SA is full of devs with ideas who just needed the pipeline to catch up.

Amazing work here 🫡 Will try checking it out then watch out for more of your works

Thank you!!! 🙏

@InterstellarG0

Oof i might need to ditch my 3d workflow and go straight here

Working on something for 3D too, but it's a little bit complex 😅

Yes the animations take most

Revolutionary

I see a lot of tools for characters, but there is none for roads, cars, buildings that are really efficient.

Interesting, I'll investigate it

I'm building an isometric city builder, and I'm using Ai for my assets. I'm unable to generate correct cars, roads, and some specific assets. I will certainly use your tools for citizens, but I'm stuck for some assets I need to manually create.

this is not the same stuff, cuz is for a 3D game, but just in case it helps some way

It's gonna be costy, but I can generate the reference image, then creating a 3d model for creating the missing views.

Cool

THIS IS SO SMOOOTH I LOVE IT, and I’m a designer

Thanks mate

Impressive

🙏🙏

Sick! I want try it

Cool 🙏

Okay, THATS impressive. Just getting into all of that - could i use input from midjourney (consistent stlye, characters etc) in this workflow?

exactly. I'm working on a whole app for doing that, and many more things. but it works for that rn

Nice. i will need abour 500 animated thingies in a small non-pixel scale. when your app is ready, let us know :D <3

Wow what is this app? Can I have the app link?

It's in the ALT!

Thanks a lot 👍👍👍

cooking this btw

Thank you so much, Halla!

Anytime brother

Excellent! As always 🙂

Thanks so much!!

fantastic! I know some are concerned about AI generating masses of low substance content flooding the web - but that's ALWAYS been the case. This right here is real true passion, those people still exist, and the ones who shifted to using AI are going to have a good time.

thanks so much for your words :)

Followed. I want to get into this sprite sheet generation too, what a great use case. I’ve been a motion graphics animator for 20+ years - Adobe ae etc but games dev was unlocked by AI (no more fighting syntax, learning code boilerplate). I love that you’ve been on this for 2y+

appreciated. I'm always trying to push AI to create useful workflows that really helps people to show their creativity. no matter is for games, videos... you name it!

Wow! I'm gonna have to try this. Thanks for sharing.

🙂🙂

Nice! How you made city? And what you are using for vibe coding? Claude?

I'll reveal it soon once it's ready, but it's a video loop. And I used Composer 1.5 on Cursor

I know manual spritework is ancient history by now!

The Mummy Demastered soundtrack is amazing.

Good work 🚀

Thanks!

This is great stuff!

glad you like it!

Love you.

If you do it right, you'll replace @ConstructTeam with your own animator / game making software.

@BoxelsBrand @ConstructTeam Not my intention 🙏

Sure — but these kinds of quality-of-life builds tend to evolve into full software replacements. That’s the trajectory I’ve been seeing with AI-assisted coding. My hope is that real artists eventually replace @Adobe with tools we build ourselves — software that does more for less, and actually serves the people creating the work.

@ConstructTeam @Adobe Our goal, as creatives done with corporate greed, is to replace corporations entirely:

this is exactly the tech i needed

workin on it!

Wow! Great content, man. So much value you provide for AI world.

🤜🤛
