Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) reported that violent encounters between security guards and Indigenous people have become an increasingly common occurrence in Winnipeg. What do you notice about the security guards, whose job is supposed to be to observe and report, not physically assault citizens? If I recall correctly, many of these same First Nations groups previously advocated for open border policies and used slogans such as “No one is illegal on stolen land” at their protests. Now, they are dealing with some of the consequences of the very policies and ideas they once supported.
