Staff Flight Test Engineer Simon Hedderman takes us inside the Archer telemetry trailer, the data center behind our flight test operations. While the pilot operates the aircraft, our team monitors from the telemetry trailer, gathering holistic aircraft data like engine temperatures, airspeed, and battery levels. Each part of the aircraft is represented, with members from the battery, engine, propellor, flight control systems, guidance navigation & controls, and flight test instrumentation teams gathering data and monitoring real-time performance during flight. This test data helps to validate aircraft performance across mission profiles, supporting safe flights and preparing us for public operations.

Feel the Power of an RS‑25 Hot Fire Test! 🔥 We successfully tested RS-25 engine No. 10001 on Oct. 21 on the Fred Haise Test Stand at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The main objectives of the test were to acceptance test RS-25 flight components for future NASA Artemis missions and validate the new thermal protection system, which protects the RS-25 engine nozzle from the thermal environment surrounding NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket during launch. While this developmental engine will not be used in flight, the hot fire test provides NASA and NASA's prime engine contractor L3Harris with the capability to capture critical data to improve engine performance and reliability.

This test represents the Apogee Raise Maneuver or ARM burn for our Blue Moon Mark 1 Lunar lander, plus margin, the longest burn required by the mission to reach the Moon. You may have noticed that the engine for this test does not have a nozzle. BE‑7 is tested in both vacuum and atmospheric conditions. This test was at GEEx—our atmospheric test position in West Texas.

The B18.3 test article seems to have suffered a structural failure during qualification testing of the Integrated Hot Staging Ring for the V3 Booster. It appears that it buckled beneath the common dome weld which is not ideal, considering that was not the component being tested for structural integrity. Hopefully they were able to gather the data they were hoping for and won't need to replace this test article in order to complete this extremely important test. 📽️: Avid Space

The racing engine really has a power curve that only goes alive at 8000 RPM, just like in the anime. Kunos is actually a super otaku about this kind of stuff, huh
