When Al Gore was fighting against school choice, it was pointed out that his kids all went to private school. His answer was basically, yeah, but DC has crappy schools and I didn't want my kids to go there. But, fine for everyone else.

I'm genuinely curious how we aren't having a honest conversation about this. Forcing kids poor kids to go to crappy public schools is probably the easiest example of systemic racism to wrap your head around.

@MelissaTweets You can pump as much money as you want into these schools but they're only as good as the involvement of their parents. All the money in the world will not make a child learn if he doesn't want to.

Do you think a private school on the level of Palo Alto High would ACCEPT a poor kid even IF they could pay tuition with government help? Be honest. That’s part of the reason parents send their kids to private school. To get away from people NOT “like them.”
