Inspired by this study, I've created a "paleo-soundscape" where a Smilodon fatalis proclaims his territory at the break of dawn. This is simply one of many interpretations of the study's results; I found myself referencing puma and ocelot vocalizations. Hope you enjoy it!

Here's the artist featured in this video! I recommend checking out his work. The audio was purchased royalty-free off of Pond5.

This is really cool! Almost crocodilian, it is that deep :B

Dang that was a good listen too. Really vibrates though your skull

Thank you 🙏 Given the paper mentioned the very low frequencies sabrecats might've used, I opted for a heavier base with these vocals. We can only imagine what the first North Americans heard by the light of a campfire!

Well, I'm no expert, but I certainly would believe this to be the sound of a large felid, and not quite like the ones that we are used to. It seemed very guttural, and a bit scary at one point.

Guttural was exactly what I was going for! Thanks for the insight, glad you appreciated it. 🙏

This is amazing! Genuinely the most natural sounding Smilodon I've heard.

Thanks Iris, much love 🙏

@HodariNundu

This certainly got my cat's attention.
