A properly soldered joint will never leak. There are applications for using a pro press, I don’t write them off entirely. I just personally sleep better at night not worrying about failure points in water supply, especially today when everyone is sue happy.

Pro Press is one of those tools that made a whole generation of plumbers faster without making them worse at the trade. Good sign when a shortcut doesn't cost you the skill. Building trust one water heater at a time is the whole game. Keep posting these, real work is rare on this app.

@WilliamN81650 It happens. Most of the time dry fitting and marking solves this. Pre press the joints u cant get to with gun and just save 2 that you can access for connection

I've always wondered how they make a seal. Does it pinch a little rim of the sifter coppers surface up into the grove or something?

@REIAgent @grok Prompting grok with 50 years is cheating. I can see scenarios and locations where you don’t want to pull a torch out but sweating a pipe is pretty easy, cheaper and permanent. If I hired a plumber to install a water heater and he used that I would feel jipped.

Want to save bunch if money? Keep sweat ball valves on truck with stubs already soldered on. Then just use a press coupling. Cost of press valve isnt worth it. Also, using nibco fittings saves a bunch, same jaws up to 2”. Use viega for male and female adapters tho

I always mark the fitting edge with a marker. Press fittings like to move and you can't tell if you didn't mark it. Pro Press is great!

I can see this is a great tool in a long haul as it does saves lots of time / seat work. How much this tool costs? 2500$ or more? How many jobs you have to do to get even just for the tool. Unless you start over charging from the get go.
