Nobody understands that the guy walking on the road is in the right. The driver and the kids that pushed him dont know the rules. A shared zone in Australia is a street area where pedestrians and vehicles share the same road space, but pedestrians have priority.

I'm not sure about particular laws there, but this road has markings about pedestrians. My guess that means that pedestrians may cross this road at any point and cars must yield, but I bet pedestrians still are not supposed to walk by road itself
