If you liked that, Mr Inbetween (TV Series) should be on your radar. And yes, Russell Crowe had Romper Stomper.

Chopper is such a "lovable guy" that a TV show ran this skit (similar to i guess SNL) where this guy impersonates Chopper and does the weather report.

Do yourself a favour and watch Mr Inbetween. Mr Inbetween is a dark Australian crime-comedy series about Ray Shoesmith, a hitman & dad juggling contract killings with his complicated family life, friendships and relationships.

If you can’t believe it didn’t win best picture in 2001 you’ll be even more furious to know that Shannon noll was beaten in Australian idol to Guy Sebastian in the same year

Australians have a love for criminals that didn't yield. Mick Jagger in Ned Kelly is not a great film but Ned and other bushrangers are our folklore. Our convict roots coming through. "Chopper" parody

Grant also try Shame, Wake in Fright, Romper Stomper, Muriel’s Wedding, The Club, Dead Calm, Gallipoli, Mad Max (The Road Warrior), Lantana, Priscilla,… so many! Eric Bana used to be a comedian before he was an actor, it comes through really well in Chopper.

Wolf Creek if you like that kind of genre. And Romper Stomper for something Russ Crowe did that’s on par with Chop.

If chopper was made 10yrs later — it’d of won best picture or best actor no doubt. Back then Aussie cinema was just too obscure

Gallipoli is well worth watching. Historical drama based on actual events at the failed Dardanelles (Turkey) campaign in WW1 - and the origin of our most revered national day. Has a fantastic soundtrack and features a very young Mel Gibson. 🇦🇺 🫡

He was a very complicated man. He was very much a product of mid century Collingwood (before it got gentrified). They specifically passed laws to stop him from profiting from his non fiction books so he started writing fiction, the Mafia guys he knew liked the fiction better.

You might like Romper Stomper then. One of Crowe’s earliest and the ONLY film I couldn’t watch til the end The violence far too real and visceral for me.

the ending was hauntingtoo like he’s so happy seeing himself on the news for three minutes but just like that it’s over, the guys leave & it’s just him alone in his cell with nothing.
