Democrats are being asked to ignore the lying, racism, misogyny, homophobia, antisemitic dog whistles, Nazi SS tattoo, still-active Kik account, and credible abuse allegations because “we need the Senate.” No. We need standards. More, and worse, WILL come out. And if it comes out after the July 13 deadline to replace him on the ballot, it could be catastrophic for Democrats. He is barely leading Collins while Maine voters are only starting to hear about the scandals. That's not strength - it's a ticking time bomb. And the way his supporters are dismissing women, excusing abuse, rationalizing racism and misogyny, and treating a Nazi tattoo like a quirky little oopsie is exactly why this matters. It is never a mistake to stand up for what’s right. As Dolly Parton said on The Orville: “If you do the right thing in the here and now, the future has a way of taking care of itself.” We can't fight Trump and Republicans if we become just like them.
