Just got back from the match, and it still hasn't quite sunk in. Last year was about overcoming the heartbreak and near misses for the first time. This year felt different. There was a calm confidence around this team, a feeling that they had learned from the setbacks and were ready for this moment. Being in the stadium to watch RCB lift their second IPL trophy was genuinely special. Not just because of the result, but because of the journey it took to get here. You could feel what it meant to the players and the fans who have stayed invested through all the highs and lows. Seeing that shared sense of joy at the final whistle is something I'll remember for a long time. A title built on resilience, belief, and delivering when it mattered most. This is the view from Hindukush heights in Chitral. Graced by the likes of Diana, Robert de Niro and countless polo champions. The hotel looks over a beautiful valley, but also the chitral airport. Which costs the government of KPK eight million a rupees to keep functional every month. Flights from islamabad to here would take one hour. The airport used to have five flights a day from across the country. Then it had one a day. Then it had a flight a week. For the past three years there are no flights because PIA doesn’t have the money for proper small aircraft. So it takes a 12 hour bus journey across mountain roads to get here.

Back-to-back HNL-SYD trips can be exhausting, but moments like this make every mile worth it. Last week I brought my wife and son with me to Sydney. They stayed behind while I flew back to Honolulu, and now I’m back to pick them up. Walking into the crew hotel and seeing my son waiting to greet me like this… there’s no better feeling. I’ve got a 48-hour layover, so we’re making the most of it. First stop: lunch at Newport in the Northern Beaches with a close friend, followed by two days of family time before we head home together. Aviation gives me the opportunity to see the world, but it’s moments with family like this that remind me why all the long flights, jet lag, and time away are worth it. 🤙🏼
