I agree insurance can be a scam. That roofer was the one trying to scam though. Those are the tiniest hits ever. Those don’t have the size to qualify as an actual hit, in terms of insurance. Roofer is just mad he did all the work for nothing. He should have just door knocked the next house. I bet he always uses the same line: “[Insurance company are the only ones that give me trouble]”

Thats why do not let an adjuster work with a roofer. If they approve the whole roof insurance will send you the money and then just do many quotes. If they approve only one slope just appeal it. Insurance knows these tricks dont let them fool you. But never let a roofer work with the insurance company. If you get $20k for the roof and you get yours for $13k you keep the difference if you allow the same roofer to work with the insurance company guess who grabs the 20k check.

A few shingles with some indents in them doesn’t justify a brand new roof in my opinion.

I was denied inspection after inspection. they are all the same, they make money denying claims. What did I do? I re-roofed with impact resistant shingles, and picked the highest deductible and lowest coverage possible. shopped with carriers that discount class IV shingles. Once the house is paid off, insurance gets cancelled.

We had a homeowners claim for water leak & I knew they would raise the premiums. They doubled the premium which covered half of what they what they had paid out. In two years they would have clawed back what they paid me. Said buh bye.

never us insurance for things like this, you use it if a car smashes into the front of the house and even then you should just take care of it yourself, otherwise you risk having your insurance policy cancelled

Had serious hail once. Adjuster came out. He came down and began, "I don't see a lot of hail damage. . ." and I was about to blow up, I did a little bit. Then he said, "but I do see covered wind shear damage" He should have lead with that.

This is a new phenomenon. They used to cover claims with minimal issues. Now its like you’re taking their last dollar. Medical insurance too.

Insurance estimators jobs are to catch as little as possible to grant you no claim or the smallest claim possible. It truly is a scam. They are not on your side - they are trying to protect company money.
