For those in the dark, the thieves accessed the cars CANBUS (internal network) via the headlight socket. Yup…..the cars HEADLIGHT isn’t just powered, it’s on the network. 🤦🏻♂️ If you want evidence that modern cars are overly complicated, this is it. 🫣

this reminds me of driving through a city

They mess with the headlamp as it’s an easy place to tap into the car’s network called the CAN Bus. They connect some hacking device to the bus which sends the commands to unlock the car.

What did they spray the camera with, air freshener?

Why don’t they just make it so you can only get in with a metal thing that only the owner has?

Inside job from dealership. They have technical knowledge, they have her address.

If you were a car designer wouldn’t anti theft be a top priority. Bury all the electronics in the middle.

CANbus overriding to steal RAV 4. Models from 2019 to 2023 affected. Mine was attempted once. Fitted a ghost immobiliser which prevented mine from being stolen

They hit the wall on the way out.
