For those in the dark, the thieves accessed the cars CANBUS (internal network) via the headlight socket. Yup…..the cars HEADLIGHT isn’t just powered, it’s on the network. 🤦🏻‍♂️ If you want evidence that modern cars are overly complicated, this is it. 🫣

They mess with the headlamp as it’s an easy place to tap into the car’s network called the CAN Bus. They connect some hacking device to the bus which sends the commands to unlock the car.

CANbus overriding to steal RAV 4. Models from 2019 to 2023 affected. Mine was attempted once. Fitted a ghost immobiliser which prevented mine from being stolen
