On the 21st of June 2022, 4 years ago, when I was still a surgeon, I had no social media presence of significance, and a year before I started my podcast, I attended this meeting. I listened to Aseem Malhotra and Jay Battachyria essentially say that mistakes were made, and it was simply well-intentioned people who made mistakes during covid. To say I was disappointed was a huge understatement. When the mic was given over to the floor, I was the first to speak. And what was their response? They didn't have any.

My mom died when I was 17. I only have a handful of pictures and zero videos of her. A couple years ago, on my birthday, I got a text from a number I didn’t recognize. It simply said “happy birthday” with a YouTube link. I clicked it and my heart stopped. It was my mom. I had to pull over immediately. She was telling me how proud she was of me and how she wondered what I’d become. Maybe a policeman, a preacher, or even a clown. I couldn’t believe it. Well, it turns out the random phone number was my friend Jon’s dad, who had found this video on an old VHS tape they made before a 1999 school event. I was 16. In 2015, before Iran signed the JCPOA, they had formed a Special Committee to review the agreement. At that time, Pezeshkian was a MP and part of this committee but he never even read the JCPOA text (which he himself acknowledged) as he claimed that he trusts the JCPOA and doesn’t need reading! As seen in the video in the other tweet, Pezeshkian was present while Jalili was warning everyone about the snapback, but Pezeshkian was too cool to read the JCPOA text. And now this guy is the president. I can’t even fathom how this happened.
