Why on earth do we wanna focus on buying league one players?! We don’t want to be in this league we want to go up, you buy a squad of league one players if you wanna be stable and maybe fluke promotion via the play offs, if that happens…guess what we have to do again next season….rebuild We lost one way or another 17 players this summer, we needed to rebuild this season, we have been skating on thin ice because of our yellow sticker transfer activity for the best part of 7 years. Why on earth would we use this summer to pack the squad out with journeyman league one players? F that!! We want to go up so we only need to add a handful of players to be able to go again next season. Stop using Wrexham as a comparison to us, they did exactly what we have done this season when they were in the national league. Jobi FYI we ain’t a league one team we’re a team in league one, we haven’t been in this league for 30 years and with this summers transfer activity we won’t ever be in league one ever again (no disrespect to league one) This summer was the owners first chance to flex their muscles and show their commitment to the club. He touched on the Tigers Player Development ideology and wants to remind fans McGonigle, Clark and Briceño are moving through the system "real fast" "Big league pitching is better than it's ever been. Yet somehow there's this momentum towards moving guys (calling up) faster. Intellectually that doesn't make a lot of sense to me." "We have the best record in the American League and are trying to win the World Series. Them coming up and struggling right now doesn't help our team win games and it doesn't help them reach their ceilings sooner" "As counter-intuitive as it sounds sometimes the fastest way to get these guys to Detroit and performing is being patient through development"

I'm like, 'Man, we turn it over like crazy, we're shooting 20% from 3, you love this team?' That's not what Beaver nation cares about ultimately. They care about character and how you represent. If you do those things well enough, you're going to win. This team now hopefully put a big smile on everybody's face because it's been tough to be us." You get 1 spring Little League season per year. You can play tournaments every weekend. Missing your rec league games to play in a travel ball tournament is not legit. It's also not safe from an arm care perspective. The travel ball player is probably a top Little League player, so it really hurts the team. Dont put your child that situation. And dont do that to the team. It puts the Little League head coach in an awful position. What are they supposed to tell the team? "Oh yea, little Bobby is playing on his travel team this weekend instead of with us..." And then that travel ball player is expected to just be slotted back into the lineup? That's not right. I bet if the LL coach sits the player for skipping out on the team, those parents complain. In fact, I literally just had this happen with a good friend... which prompted this reflection. Play Little League or Travel Ball. And if you do both, prioritize the rec league with the team who has worked together for months with the goal of playing meaningful baseball at the end of the season. Show up for the volunteer coach who probably selected you as one of their top picks to carry and lead the team. And just wait a few more weeks and play in as many weekend tournaments as your heart desires. ⚾💪🔥 #baseball #travelball #littleleague #youthbaseball
