Kath, this is my Silverado, in 6 weeks it will be 25 years old, I’m the original and only owner, 177K miles, 7K average annually, no key fob, no Onstar, I have to roll my windows up and down, lock the doors by hand and I’m keeping it, my license plate is my daughter’s name

All that is possible, but I highly doubt it’s nefarious, a software or firmware upgrade in your car now is necessary to keep it running correctly. My car asks me before downloading and explains what it’s for.

Fortunately for me, I never have to buy a new car.
