India Arie clarified that she never called for a boycott of Yung Miami's Spend Dat Instead, she said she wants people to recognize the influence music and lyrics can have on culture and personal choices. She argued that calling it just a song overlooks the real impact music can have on society. The debate quickly split opinions. While some agreed with her message, others defended Yung Miami's creative freedom. Trick Daddy backed the rapper, saying explicit lyrics have always been part of music and that she shouldn't be singled out for making a hit record.
