Now here's where things start getting really crazy... Fusion reactors like Helion can power the entire energy requirement of the United States for 1 year using only 1 ton of Helium-3. Since Helium-3 is insanely rare on Earth (150x the value of gold) how do you power these reactors? The Moon. The Moon's surface is bombarded by solar radiation, producing vast quantities of Helium-3. So much so that it's estimated the Moon's surface holds at least 3 million tons of Helium-3. This is enough to power the entirety of Earth for 100,000 years and conduct interstellar travel. Space mining isn't about bringing minerals back to Earth, it's about Helium-3.
