Remember the Truth Social post by Trump on March 12, 2026: "The US is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money." He is effectively trying to do two things: to force Iran into submission while simultaneously coercing the global market to rely on American oil and gas at inflated prices, for which he constrains the Strait of Hormuz. Iran shall not bend, of course. But he has no clue about the dynamics of the world energy markets. So, this shall backfire, but at the cost of others—in particular, the Asian markets.
