Zohran Mamdani has announced plans for the first of five planned city-owned grocery stores. He's budgeted $70 million for 5 soviet-style government-run grocery stores. Now, we are hearing that the first one is already costing north of $30 million and it will take over one year to build. History tells us that this sort of government planning doesn't work. It's a massive and inefficient use of resources, it'll drive out private competition, and it'll be bogged down by bureaucracy and politics. Let's see the actual price tag of this communist program.
