For educational purposes only! For those that dont know IUDs IUDs are super effective birth control, like, over 99%! That's a big merit! they give you long term protection without you having to remember anything daily. Plus, they're reversible, so you can still have kids later. What ever has merit has demerit and some of the demerit are? Sometimes they can cause heavier periods or cramping, especially at first. There's also a small risk of infection or the IUD moving, though these are rare. Its not something they teach in school but you gotta learn about your body and options from different places.
