A caterpillar wants to build a chrysalis. A bee wants to build a hive. A lion wants to build a pride. You are not special. You are not above your nature. you are INSIDE of it. The thoughts that we think are genetic thoughts. The crimes we commit are genetic crimes. The art we create is genetic art. Just like this beaver, you can give the animal different sticks and it will build a different dam, but it will always build a dam. And you can give humans different "education," but the human will always use it to do what its genes tell it to do. This is the first big answer that you need. This is the biggest piece of the puzzle. This is how to understand people 90% of the way. You just... notice what they do, and get out of the way, and watch them do it. And if they need sticks, you give them sticks. And if you don't like what they do, you have to get away from them. You cannot train dam-building into them or out of them any more than you can with a beaver. A beaver wants to build a dam because it is a beaver. Whatever you see people build, that's what they wanted to build from the sticks they got in the river they were in. Stop pretending you can change it.

It’s the question every investor and founder is thinking about: “Most of what we're building is platform. There's so many examples of where a platform can accrue a lot of value, but the customers who are building on that platform actually accrue even more value. Introducing World-Builder. A game that lets you prompt anything in to existance. You can make vehicles (anything that traverses air, land, or sea), you can build buildings, or weapons. Literally anything you can imagine. I saw people like Matt Shumer one-shotting games, but I don't think that's the future of games. I think the future of gaming is true world-building. BUT, the one-shotted games showed me that I think technology is finally at a place where we can experiment with what the UX of world-building games actually is. I've been building it between meetings, but its actually pretty fun and everyone at tenex is testing it out! If you want to play it, test it out with me, and maybe even contribute to it, let me know!

This is my answer 👇 You might not like it, but the truth is that right now Unity is not ready and it doesn't matter how hard you try as soon as you go above 400K, the framerate on standalone headsets is terrible. You should instead look at the amazing work that teams at World Labs and PlayCanvas are doing. They are pushing innovation and are building stunning tech demos where features like the LOD turns into gameplay mechanic. Using your hands as a sort of torch to define the LOD is genius! This is the best moment to experiment and show innovation. For a second, take a step back from your training and simulations, train an AI on how to build on Playcanvas or Spark and break things.

How I get shit done, Episode 001 I've set up a playbook called ‘land’, which is triggered automatically when I drag an issue into the merging column in Linear. That reliably runs CI and merges any green PRs. This has allowed me to ship way faster than before. I think the key takeaway here is you can try to build your own code factory and your own agent orchestration layer, but it is a huge amount of work. The truth is there are entire companies with massive funding that are already tackling this and it's just easier to use their platform. I think this is a lot like if you were a carpenter: you could build your own generator, fuel it, wire it up, and then build a plug and then you could plug your saw into it. Or you could just plug your saw into the wall. Because the electricity company has already done all the work in the infrastructure and investment to make that plug work. I think more of us who are building companies should just be plugging into the wall instead of trying to build all this tooling ourselves. As a dev it's so tempting to build your own dev tools but I think a lot of times, even though you can build fast with agents now, it's a complete waste of time. It probably sounds like I'm being paid by Devin or something but I have zero financial interest here. They don't give me credits. I'm not an investor. I'm not being paid. I just think the tooling is really damn good. If you used Devin a long time ago and wrote it off, you really should have another look - for $500/month it's pretty obscene what you can get done.
