Introducing Artemis III. Four astronauts. Three launches. Two dockings. One splashdown. In 2027, the Artemis III mission will practice docking the Orion spacecraft with two lunar landers in low Earth orbit — the capability we need to return humanity to the Moon’s surface.

If we actually landed on the Moon back in the ‘60s, Artemis III wouldn’t need three launches, two dockings, and years of practice just to get back there. I mean, come on NASA —? you supposedly nailed it with slide rules and tinfoil last time. Now it’s rocket science? (Yeah, I know we never did it… I just can’t prove it yet)

@NASAArtemis This is a really exciting mission. And very complex. I'm excited to watch NASA take the next steps towards landing on the moon.

I feel like at some point, Artemis (female goddess) should have a woman commander.

Artemis III harkens back to the Gemini & pre-Apollo 11 missions, small steps & giant leaps that made the “one giant leap” possible.

It's interesting that Apollo didn't need to do this. I guess that's the difference between pretending to go to the moon and going for real.

You want people interested in space and to want to go to space but retardedly gatekeep the entire process and then you beg us for taxpayers funding? Then you expect us to get excited over this when it's not for the public in any way? Fuck you.

They’re all men??? oh and by the way, we have landed on the moon before.

The lunar landing will draw the attention, but orbital docking is one of the capabilities that makes long-term exploration possible. Mission success increasingly depends on mastering complex operations, not just reaching the destination.

I’m having trouble with this math. If you have Three Launches, shouldn’t you have Three Splashdowns?! 🤔🚀🪂

Four astronauts practicing to return humanity to the Moon. And somewhere on Earth right now a final year student is practicing to defend their first original idea in front of a panel of academics. Different scales. Same human instinct. We prepare. We practice. We show up and defend what we built. That is the thread connecting the astronaut to the student. Both are being asked to prove they can think under pressure.

Artemis iii is still just docking practice in earth orbit by 2027. the first landing slipped from 2024 to 2028 plus with orion and sls hardware years behind schedule.

For Artemis III, the most exciting part might actually be the orbital refueling demonstration, especially if they don’t end up going to the Moon!

Dude this should have happened three decades ago. And artimus looks highly outdated. These seems like something Elon musk should be in charge of.

Stop being a mediocre. Achieve the highest feat. Land on the moon again not on orbits, not flybys. We're tired of being on the surface. Let humans start building on the moon. Stop wasting hard earned money, stop looking for cheap fame, stop basking on part glory
