Exactly one year ago Ofer Kalderon, Yarden Bibas, and Keith Siegel crossed the border and returned home. Through tears, we watched them fall into the arms of their loved ones. Through the holy month of Ramadan, World Central Kitchen made sure families could gather together to end a long day of fasting. They rallied for officers being treated by amazing medical staff — and together we shared our devastation for the families of those taken from us in the line of duty today. Our Commonwealth owes a debt of gratitude to our law enforcement officers and the three who sacrificed their lives today to keep us safe. I’ve ordered U.S. and Pennsylvania flags on all public buildings across the Commonwealth to be lowered to half staff in their memory.

🚨 While fraudsters were quietly stealing millions from Ohio Medicaid, real families were the ones paying the price. Meet Marlana Kendricks (@_hotmomlanaa). This Cleveland mom drove hours to Columbus not to defend fraud—but to beg lawmakers to see the human beings caught in the crossfire. Her son has a developmental disability. Like thousands of other Ohio families, they rely on Medicaid-supported home health care and family caregivers so he can live safely at home in his community—instead of being forced into an institution or nursing home. Today marks Contemporary Martyrs Day in the Coptic Orthodox Church, and the 10th Anniversary of #The21 #LibyaMartyrs, a day of solemn remembrance while at the same time being a moment of recognition of their incredible strength, resilience, grace and witness, as well as their families’ remarkable ability to graciously forgive. All in all, and somewhat ironically and counterintuitively, an occasion for thanksgiving and celebration. We give thanks for their powerful witness and the encouragement that they have given to the whole world…the world that they changed on that day, on the beach, in those distinctive orange suits. They have become icons in the most selfless and impactful way. On this important day we pray repose for our Martyrs, continuing comfort for their families, loved ones and communities, forgiveness for those who contributed to the taking of their lives in every way, and God’s peace upon His world, that this inhumanity may never be repeated. On the eve of their professional holiday, I presented state awards to our healthcare professionals and handed decorations to the families of the medics who lost their lives and were honored posthumously. Today, Ukrainian healthcare professionals – your resilience and your dedication – are an example to all of us and to the entire world. Despite extraordinarily difficult conditions and an immense, constant workload, you continue to do your job. Every day you work brings more Ukrainian lives saved and advances our healthcare system. We are building a rehabilitation system that will undoubtedly become one of the strongest in Europe. Hundreds of rehabilitation facilities are already operating across Ukraine. Every day, our healthcare professionals conduct more than 17,000 therapy sessions – six times as many as at the beginning of this war. We are building a modern mental health system. Thank you to everyone helping our people cope with loss, anxiety, exhaustion, and the consequences of war. We are also developing our transplant system. Since the start of this war, our medical teams have performed nearly 2,500 transplants. These are not just statistics – it's all about the people who have been given a chance to live. Our teams evacuating the wounded from different sectors of the front have already saved more than 80,000 people. I thank you for your professionalism, resilience, and humanity. I hope they help making their Christmas holidays a little brighter. This initiative would not be possible without the amazing help from local volunteers who ensured the food reached those who need it most. Knowing that these families can share a warm meal and experience a brief sense of comfort is an important reminder of why this work truly matters. It's a simple gesture, but one I hope brings warmth, dignity, and brightness to their Christmas.

The Bundle of Joy Fund was born from one of the hardest chapters of our lives and grew into being able to give other couples the chance to become Mom and Dad. I wish more than anything Kyle was still here to carry on this mission with me but knowing a piece of him lives on through every Bundle of Joy baby is so special. God has a way of placing people in our lives for a reason and I’m so grateful He placed Ashley and Carlos in ours. Their support of The Bundle of Joy Fund and even more their friendship and love for our family means so much. Accepting the Seeds of Hope Award on behalf of Kyle was incredibly emotional.
