To me the 🫳 🎤 moment was when one of the engineers mentioned they setup the airnode and connected it to starlink in 15 minutes. In an industry where everything is tricky and time consuming, being able to setup a repeater in such a small amount of time is mindblowing. This is tech is not only for rich people, this tech is not only for specialised engineers, this tech can be for everyone. Only this way we can truly and really connect everyone! Well done everyone, I stand tall beside @WorldMobileTeam and it's an honour to be part of this movement.

According to the GSMA, globally there are 3.6 billion people (almost half the world’s population) who do not use mobile internet. This includes the ‘connectivity gap,’ which is about 400 million people who are not covered by mobile networks at all. They’re unconnected because traditional mobile networks struggle to invest in hard-to-reach places. But, at #WorldMobile, we won’t take distance for an answer. We’ll go the extra mile to connect the seemingly unconnectable, because we know connection is everything. At dawn this morning, close to Massingir, #Mozambique, we went the extra-mile, and history was made. We’re delighted to have successfully launched: - The first commercial telecoms #aerostat in #Africa. - The first aerostat in Southeast Africa. - The biggest aerostat World Mobile has used to date. Many said it could not be done, but we have persevered with the objective of delivering on our mission to connect the unconnected and serve the underserved. Mozambique’s internet user rate stood at a mere 23% of the total population in 2022, a shocking figure given that almost 62% of its populace live in rural areas. This lack of #connectivity has a significant impact on access to #healthcare, #education, #banking, and economic opportunities. Indian Army for India’s First Villages: Bringing Connectivity & Hope to Remote Areas The border areas and remote villages in Ladakh were devoid of 4G mobile connectivity until Jun 24. This was depriving the local communities from being connected to the digital revolution in the nation. The Indian Army in collaboration with Bharti Airtel set out to ensure connectivity in these First Villages of India. Fire and Fury Corps proactively engaged all the telecom service providers and assisted them in installation of mobile towers in theses remote areas. Fighting against the harsh weather including sub- zero temperatures, a total of 42 Airtel 4G mobile towers have been installed in 5 months covering the remote locations of Kargil, Siachen, Demchok, DBO and Galwan providing much needed connectivity to the populace as well as soldiers serving in Ladakh. This initiative will boost tourism in the state and help the local community by improving access to online education, remote healthcare and fostering economic opportunities through government schemes bridging the existing digital divide.
