talking to your coding history is such a good idea. the meta-learning angle is what makes this more than just a chat log search

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but this sounds huge! I'll need to dig deeper. Thanks Scott.

@burkeholland @pierceboggan @JamesMontemagno Something similar in VS Code? I have probs finding old chats b/c they appear to be linked to a folder, workspace, or empty VS Code and I can't always remember. I've written a basic script to try to agg but this is much better :)

Indexing Copilot chats into local SQLite is the right direction—searchable coding memory you own. Next: diffs + “why did I change this?”

This will definitely be useful! I can see some patterns from how Copilot acts based on what's in my - like I have a rule for branches based on ADO User Story # that I often have to reitarate in prompting. It saw that and recommended tightening the MD file

Wow, looks really useful! Does it also include cloud agent sessions? I'm using the copilot agent way more than the local tool for now

Scott Hanselman 🌮's profile picture

Not yet but there’s talk of syncing/union across all sessions for local analysis

Can this also helps memory/context management ? It would be interesting to have agents look into this indexed data and use it as memory to extract some repeated tasks we perform or ask agents to do.

Today I've updated an Azure Function prj with local setting file with keys ignored by git. Used Copilot, and it warned me to regenerate keys because now they are in the chat data used by LLM improvement. Please fix it and prevent .gitignore files been sent to chat history.

This really cool. Scott, you talk to your computer very fluidly, I use Ctrl+ H sometimes but it feels awkward, are you using anything better?
