I logged in. Saw the word “credits.” No thanks. I already pay for Pro and Max with Codex and Claude. And if I ever really needed it, I could build my own sandbox with the right documentation and either local AI or Codex itself. I’m not going to start paying extra for information or training material that’s already freely available online.

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs Do you need to connect this to your existing Exa account and pay API rates, or is this free included?

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs @grok can you explain why would codex not have access to these websites, docs etc etc natively?

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs does codex decide on its own when to search with exa or do you have to invoke it per prompt

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs A plugin install inside Codex is a much lower bar than wiring up a search API. Curious how the 100B+ index behaves on obscure library docs.

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs 100B+ sources means “I couldn’t find it” is about to become a very weak excuse

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs 100B websites and it'll still cite a dead Reddit thread from 2013 with total confidence

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs Firstly its not free, it cost 7$ for 1000 queries Arlong Search AI does this job for 85% lesser token and Much much cheaper cost I will attach screenshots below We did the exact same query in our search AI and it gave sequentially good results

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs EXA is by far the best search engine. I don’t know how parallel scored higher in the AA benchmark. But what is one point but statistical noise.

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs Everyone is still giving agents a browser. Exa just gave Codex a search tool. That is the difference between looking and retrieving.

@OpenAI @OpenAIDevs 大模型时代,Prompt Engineering 是一门新学科,但更底层的需求是:清晰的问题定义。连问题都说不清楚,AI 再强也没用。学会提问,是 AI 时代的第一性原理。

Search is one of the highest-leverage tools an agent can receive—and one of the fastest ways to introduce invisible variability. The same task run at a different time can retrieve different sources, produce different conclusions and trigger different actions. Production runs should preserve the query, retrieval time, source set, content hashes, tool configuration and evidence supporting the final result. Exa expands what Codex can discover. Evidence rails make the resulting work independently inspectable.
