I like the idea of storing the shader in the URL. Probably makes the backend whole lot simplier

Yes. I'd like to do a community thing eventually, but this felt like a good line to draw for now

-Inspector for visualizing every step of the shader, making real debugging possible -Sliders for every variable -Handy function library -Code export for HLSL, WGSL and metal -Automatic importer for ShaderToy and Twigl -Image/video export and more

The inspector allows you to visualize variables and expressions. You can immediately get a sense of range allowing you to see each step of the shader. You get a histogram preview and can toggle each channel or visualize clipping

The code library lets you find functions quickly without having to search for them. Common math constants, color transformations, shapes, noise, etc, all there

Quick format button for organizing the code to your liking

Multiple passes are supported too

This is a very early prototype, so please expect some problems, but I am very happy with the first concept. I don't believe there is anything like it. Send a donation to help with development Thank you

Not bad for a day’s work…

Literally

One thing I would really love to have is a per line preview, always wanted something like that in a shader code editor

Been following your updates since you announced them on this. You are going to take out shadertoy because this is way better in every imaginable way. My feedback is that I opened up the page again it took me right back the "inspector" page, as if i had already clicked that shader. My expections is that I would come back to the main selection page, with an enhancement to come back to previous shader I was looking at, as some minor UI element. Or something else. Great work on this again, I can't wait to use it often!!!

Noted! Thanks Zach!
Really nice tool, thank you for sharing it with us 😊 it struggles with slow to compile shaders, I guess you’re modifying the glsl and recompiling a lot to enable the live editing features?

Yeah, I'll look for optimizations and perhaps a manual compile mode
Something I’ve done before is automatically adding uniforms for the things you’re modifying, so you don’t have to recompile as they change

Maybe gets a little bit of more attention now?

Very Cool! I'm also experimenting with custom javascript GLSL editor. I will share some ideias, that I think work very well 🙂

Really cool 😃

Cool stuff! @DelaneyGillilan reminds of D* based Stellar!

I love the built in library, that's extremely convenient

Ultra

Amazing!

The editor is already great. When/if you turn it into a community and we can see each other's shaders (and learn from them) it is going to be incredible.

For sure sending donation on my next paycheck. Does it / will it include midi or audio sources to modulate variables?

Still considering
👌🫡

Wow that’s neat! Congrats on shipping v1 :-)

This is so useful, can't wait to try it

looks amazing

I think you just opened the warp gate to editing shader with comfort

cant save .... :/

Try now

now good

Thank you for creating this

Bro this is insane

🤯🤯🤯🤯

dang this looks really cool!

Very cool

Love it! Do you plan to add a custom sampler (e.g. allow to upload image)?

You can already link your own URLs. I don't plan on adding custom texture uploads anytime soon though as I don't want to worry about hosting/moderation

Oh, good to know there's a way!

Nice!

Very cool, nice work!

This is slick. I’m gonna go make a shader

Just gave it a go and whaaaaaaat?! That's honestly amazing! It’s got everything I was thinking about and more on top. And it was what, 2 weeks? Absolutely crazy @XorDev you’re a legend 👑 Any thoughts about the desktop app?

Wow nice work man. I tried to code up a version of this a few years ago to scratch my own itch, and it was really hard and got so many shader compliation errors I gave up.

I stopped working on my renderer because I got frustrated debugging shaders. This makes me really want to get back into it 😄

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

main page really struggles on my integrated intel GPU, maybe render static thumbnails instead? not sure why its so slow
