I can't figure out the economics of a free tier. I'd love to, but I struggle with it

It goes like this. Github is run by a multi billion dollar company so free runners is a small giveaway. Then Opencode zen compute is free with a catch that those inference providers can ingest your usage data. Finally our sandboxing setup is smart in that sandboxes only run while HITL is active or agents are working. They spin up back again in milliseconds afterwards so very little waste on compute.

It’s a rented workshop for coding agents: the sandbox supplies compute and iOS simulators, while SSH or the web terminal gives you the controls.
