Introducing Kiss/Crash: a multi-screen installation using AI imagery to explore the theme of desire and the increasingly stretched relationship between the real and the artificial in the digital age Exhibit Video below! Web experience! #aiart #animation

The installation consists of three individual works in a shared space, Kiss/Crash, Me Kissing Me, and Crash Me, Gently, all of which play with augmenting, inverting, and negating the iconic image of the kiss using diffusion-based image translation. #aiart #animation #cinema

On the central screen is the audio-visual piece Kiss/Crash, in which a car crash is turned repeatedly and lovingly into a romantic kiss, but becomes increasingly erotic, violent, and unhinged over time.

In Me Kissing Me, the artist is in a slow, romantic kiss with himself which becomes augmented and perverted by AI content Here the self is quite literally projected into the artificial, pointing to how we see ourselves in these images and the isolating nature of that experience

Crash Me, Gently is an interactive piece consisting of a foot pedal and a tv playing a loop of the artist kissing himself. Accelerating the pedal increases the intensity of the kiss but also makes it more violent and pornographic, provoking desires that can never be satisfied

Across this collection of works, AI imagery augments distorts, and negates familiar representations of love, revealing the underlying logic of generative AI and suggesting the way artificial content will increasingly stand in for authentic experience in the future. #aiart
