You’re not going to believe this one. Seattle is building these two nearly identical residential towers downtown, and they decided to hang a retired Boeing 747 fuselage right between them. The towers are mostly apartments, but that airplane section is actually going to be used as office and commercial space. Some people are already calling them the twin towers because they look so matching. It’s such a crazy architectural choice. It’s meant to be a tribute to Boeing, since the company was founded right there in Seattle. The fuselage is being used to physically connect the two towers as part of an indoor walkway between them. It really makes you wonder what the design team was thinking when they came up with this idea… and somehow got it approved. Would you want to live in one of the towers?

Developed by IFA Hotels & Resorts (IFAHR), they will now build the Zimbali Marina and The Zimbali Country Estate with over 1000 residential units, located across the N2 from Zimbali Lakes. Over the past two decades, R30 billion has already been invested in Zimbali Coastal Resort and Zimbali Lakes Resort (under construction). Zimbali Lakes includes the Ernie Els Signature Course, which opened in April 2025. The Tanzania Towers, containing residences and offices, and adding beauty to the Nairobi skyline, will not only earn the government much needed foreign currency but will also save government rental expenses for the chancery and embassy staff housing. We are delighted that NSSF management, investment committee and the whole board have found this investment profitable. The government of Tanzania owns about 101 buildings and plots around the world, most of them in prime areas in major capitals (in Lusaka alone, we own 11 buildings and plots). In the new strategy, which the government approved recently, we seek to use professional and world-class real estate entities to develop these assets to earn income for the government and uplift the quality of our embassies and embassy staff housing. At the moment, the government is spending about TZS 29 billions per annum as rental for embassy offices and embassy staff housing. In the new plan, the government will instead earn about TZS 36 billions per year from these investments. The first phase will be Nairobi, Kigali, Kinshasa, London, New York and Lusaka.

Later today in Nairobi, we will be launching the construction of Twin Towers (22 floors each) buildings, a real estate investment by NSSF and Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Upper Hill, the center of Nairobi, that will also house our embassy. We are honoured to be joined by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Minister, H.E Musalia W Mudavadi as our Chief Guest, Hon. Hon. Our youth from all over the world have united, because they know that change must happen now. I wish you all the best and want to remind you that you are not alone.
