The paper behind it: The paper introduces Video Seal, a comprehensive and efficient framework for video watermarking. This is important because the increasing availability of video generative models and sophisticated video editing tools has made it crucial to have robust and flexible watermarking solutions. The authors adopt an embedder/extractor framework for Video Seal, similar to existing image watermarking models. They introduce a novel technique called "temporal watermark propagation" to efficiently watermark videos without the need to process every frame individually. The model is trained using a multistage approach, including image pre-training, hybrid post-training with images and videos, and extractor fine-tuning. The training also includes a range of differentiable augmentations, such as video codecs, to improve the model's robustness. full paper:
