Across 150 planning tasks on 50 products hosted on Mintlify, a blind judge preferred the Index-backed plan over the Context7-backed plan nearly two thirds of the time. Additionally, the Index powered agent finished twice as fast: 64.0s via Mintlify Index, compared to 121.6s with Context7.

Publisher-direct matters most for version drift. The usual failure is not that the agent cannot find the docs, it is confidently pulling the v2 page while the project is on v4, with nothing in the snippet saying which. Does Index carry version context into the chunk?
