@dadabots The most fun part of music is composing it. Why would I want to not do the fun part?

@_waxwane @dadabots I love composing too, I think of using Muse like pair-composing with someone else - you can end up finding ideas you might not have discovered alone

Free to get started, available on mac + windows + browser! Link:

Nah.

how can i make it better?

Make it open source, atleast without being "bount" to your membership. And make it optional. Let people use their own API key (BYOK)

i have to eat! you can use it for free or buy credits in $5 increments w/o subscription tho

Aight mate

can you strip out the AI so it's actually good? the demo shows how useless the AI actually is since it kinda does all the fun parts for you and makes it completely pointless what would be cooler is if it were used to help you LEARN music theory and general composition

You can use it for exactly this, and learning music theory is one of my favorite use cases. Up to the user to use it however they want

you can't though????? LLM AIs don't hold people's hands through the learning process it'll just do it for them and they'll learn nothing Tools like these can scare away people who want to learn music production! That's not the kind of tools you want to make! D:

“i think it looks cool. makes me happy.” so so so good dude. absolutely beautifully done. more of this in the world

thank you!! truly appreciate it

Siiiiick. Very interested in what your preferred model is. I tried making a call & response experience but the models really fell flat at the time, though riffing is a whole different thing perhaps.

woah this looks awesome! gemini 3 flash is my favorite, seems to be the most consistent and can make pieces like this opus 4.5 and gpt 5.2 high definitely lead to some 'holy shit' moments, but gemini 3 feels better for 90% of my practical use

interesting!! never tried the gemini models. hard to find a model that's both "musical" and isn't slow af. i really want to try your tool. i've been waiting for something like this to hit Logic Pro but who knows what's happening at Apple right now.

the prompts make a huge difference, and i think the key innovation with Muse is in how to make the music more interpretable to LLMs. if you're interested i would love to help get your call and response thing performing better, it seems like a lovely experience

ah man that'd be awesome. just made the repo public: no pressure or expectations! i might toss gemini in there and do some prompt refining. my long term vision with it was being able to jam with some of the long dead musical greats.

awesome thanks, I’ll dm you when I check it out!

Cool, now make it make something good

This is cool! Feature Request: I want to hum/whistle as input, select an instrument and have it match my input, sounding like the real instrument.

this has become a recurring request - will start working on building it soon

Man I remember wanting something like this so bad 10+ years ago. Exciting times. Will be following!

Music creation has to come from the soul and not AI generated

So fucking cool, og fl studio user here, I wish you a billion$ startup

🫶

This is awesome, would love to chat and see how we can partner @jakemclain_

thanks! always happy to chat

that's incredible! my agent started to make artisanal music, I'll give it this tool

sick! made an eval for how good different are at composing music here:

ooh looks cool! i've found similar results in my own testing - gemini 3 models are really good.

This is cool

i speak on the behalf of every composer to ever walk this earth when i say nobody fucking asked for this

This is the AI music tool I've been waiting for! Can't wait to play around with it

@agrimsingh

My clawdbot is going to be a musical genius now

OOoh I bet @willking would love this!

Love this. Looking forward to try it out

i think notes should be coming from your soul, not from a computer

As someone who was trying to mess around with Logic Pro in the past this is incredible

Sick

Is this the one tool that started as an Ableton plugin? If so, it's come a long way! Can't wait to try

Yes!! The Ableton plugin is still available but it’s come far :)

Nice, congrats on the launch

thanks!

what's in the training data?

uses LLMs and then some music data i made by hand

fire been solely using claude code with the ableton mcp so far, gonna give this a shot

Damn well done I made a demo like this a couple months ago and never got around to pushing it out, even was calling it musey Excited to see where you go

While impressive, and you're very technologically talented, you, and all the developers of this should be ashamed of yourself. The implications tools like these have on the future of art, and the integrity it requires are horrifying, and you could be using your talents for more.

that's so cool

I need this

@mrdoob this is seriously cool man! one suggestion: when i send the link to my friends, would be cool to have site meta and social image previews, so it expands in messengers nicely and nudges them to click my link

@mrdoob ty! there are meta and images on the site, i just removed it from the post here bc i just changed it and x can take a long time to update it

And we need this because...?

Calling this “Cursor for music” is spot on. The win isn’t generation — it’s iteration speed inside a structured editor where humans stay in control.

This is sick! Great work
