We are coming up to the one year anniversary of The Sameer Project. A couple of months into the project we saw a great need for a camp ( ) for internally displaced people that needed additional support because of critical medical cases. Injuries, diseases, chronic conditions, mental and physical disabilities that needed rehabilitation, and more. We had to do something to serve them with dignity and care. But what started as The Refaat Alareer Camp for vulnerable medical cases, quickly turned into a group of people that will forever be our family. From the ground team including the managers, security staff, cleaning crew, teachers, and doctors, to our residents, some who have migrated back to the north, and the babies that were born there…we will always be connected. The Refaat Alareer Camp became a place for refuge, hope, protection. Our camp manger even jumped in front of children playing when a quadcopter started shooting at them, he carried our wheelchair bound elders as the residents of the camp ran for their lives, and most recently organized another emergency evacuation within hours when the occupation threatened. This is what it means to be Palestinian. Community, care, honor, and we could not possibly be any luckier than to work with a team that encompasses all these traits and more. 26 families were forced to leave the Zahrat Al Rabie camp so our team supported them in finding another plot and building a camp for them. All families are now moved into the new Zaytoona camp. Over 3 days, our team managed to put up 32 tents so in addition to the 26 families, another 6 families in need can move into this camp. We also built a tent for children education and activities. This camp cost us around $3,500 including commission. This was completed before the bombings started but is now even more valuable. Tent prices quadrupled overnight and now finding tents is extremely difficult. Please support us in getting more tents through the South campaign:

The Refaat Alareer Camp is a medical camp, meaning we have criteria for the families that we bring in who have vulnerable conditions, chronic illnesses or injuries, so that we utilize our services and facilities to benefit those who need help the most. We have an onsite medical clinic that cares for our camp families, takes in patients from the area, and also fills medication and treatment requests we refer to them. Our team of nurses and doctors work diligently to host medical days to quell outbreaks of communicable diseases, provide nutritional support to hospital patients, and visit families in dire need who cannot afford even transport to see a doctor. They are heroes in a collapsing healthcare system. Our medical team recently held complete medical assessments for every resident in the camp. We have patients with amputated legs, shrapnel injuries, quadriplegia, brain damage, cerebral palsy, cardiac conditions, psychological disorders, burns, and more. They all need regular and specific medical care and medication they otherwise would not have access to, but that we of course provide. When I got to this campsite, there was no other camper. I should have focused on filming Fumo Camp videos but I was so happy to drink beer and whisky in the middle of a huge forest. " Laid-back Camp " should be lazy and I had better to enjoy doing nothing. Life is wonderful. 😌

Yesterday, the residents of the Refaat Alareer camp had no food just like everyone else in Gaza, and our team went to the markets to try and find anything, donate: Eventually our incredible team found 20 kilos of sweet potatoes. 20 kilos for more than 150 people … Even though the 35 families and our team had to share a small plate, it was like finding a treasure. Each kilo cost $21.25 with 10% commission so a total of $425. For today we found eggplants and the team is going to get it. We hope we close the deal to feed the patients in the Refaat Alareer camp but the situation remains dire. On the day of Mosab’s death, Iman, our speech therapist and camp resident distributed Molokhye (Palestinian dish) & rice to the Refaat Alareer camp residents. A camp with 30 families that feels like a family, support them here: Iman told us that she saw Mosab on his way out while distributing, and she told him “when you’re back, I’ll cook you Molokhye.” He was wearing a white shirt and smiled telling her that he looks forward to it. Mosab never came back and never had molokhye. Instead, the car he was in got bombed and his white shirt was drenched in blood. We are still processing the killing of our beloved Mosab but we also know that the camp is well taken care of. The Sameer Project received a plea from the Shifaa hospital tent where Doaa was with her two kids asking for help. Doaa doesnt have a phone but our team coordinated with the journalists to get Doaa and her kids to the Refaat Alareer the next morning. Support this case: In Refaat Alareer camp, Doaa and her kids were provided a tent, and they have access to water and a daily meal. Her children got registered in school and started attending already. In addition, our caretaker Amal does daily rounds to check on Doaa and see what she needs. Doaa lost her eyes due to the military occupation and dreams of a day where she can see her children’s faces again. Till then, the Sameer Project will stand by her side providing her with love and care. Our key mission is to use your donations to the most vulnerable groups in the Gaza Strip. I'm amazed! Know Your Rights Camp has grown from an idea in 2015 to now completing our 10th camp. Our youth continue to pave new paths for a better future and I'm glad we get to be a part of their journey. This is only the beginning. The future is bright and created by us today!✊🏾🚀
