Bro what the -- This is a crazy plugin. Does the plugin make AE somehow play the clips back that easily?? Would this plugin alone make Premiere Pro redundant? I'm keeping my eye on this!

It'll be a good idea to practice due diligence before proceeding with development, just in case someone else has very recently put out a very similar product.

I certainly did before even entertaining the idea of making Railcut. Your tool, which I do not think compares to Railcut in any way, did not come up in any of my research.

Mine does editing in AE and so does yours. It's the main feature of our products. How the editing is done is secondary. I don't mind competition but would have liked a grace period after just releasing mine. I've been using AE for 25+ years and this is a great feature-good luck.

That's like saying two tools that apply effects are competitors.

And telling AE users they can't playback in AE is WILD when this has been possible for a very, very long time - just need to uncheck the Cache Before Playback checkbox - something you may want tell your users. I'm not in this for the money - the challenge interested me.

@jakeinmotion If you're just interested in the challenge, why do you expect a grace period? I think it's great both of you are making tools we desperately need in AE. But it's clearly about the money if you think he should've held back so your tool had more time to gain traction.

@jakeinmotion My tool, Ae Editor costs $1 (averaged cost based on total price for 29+ scripts) and this excludes lots of smaller QoL scripts that support larger scripts. In his videos, he clearly implies his is the only tool that edits in AE - I earn from custom development.

About freaking time someone did this. I and many of my colleagues have been doing a lot of projects 100% in After Effects for years. Once I learned the "Split Layer" hotkey (Ctrl+Shift+D on Windows or Cmd+Shift+D on Mac), Premiere becomes useless for 98% of the video work we do.

I always said that Premiere should be a window into After Effects. I use Vegas Pro precisely because it's an editor that allows motion and compositing in the same workflow. The problem has been Adobe's poor optimization; I need 50GB of free SSD space just to open AE

Not at all. Railcut does not load or store anything. It simply translates your active Ae comp layers to clips on tracks and translates your editing actions inside Railcut back to the AE layers.

Kinda crazy… could be a game changer if AE’s render doesn’t lag the timeline too much
