Usage and source code👇

@kamrify So ur app is ngrok tunnels?

@kamrify this pretty sick, plain & simple. ngrok used to be this simple but now they added auth as compulsory & rate limitations. does slim also have the same, do I need to signup?

not for local development, but yes for internet sharing to prevent abuse

@kamrify that sounds great 🫂

@kamrify how it's different from cloudflared?

same as ngrok, it's not built around local-domain dev workflows

@kamrify as I can see on your video, local is localhost, so when you develop a server/app, you already have the localhost. So, what point of your app? I'm not trying to be mean, but can you justify? thanks

@kamrify https, custom local domains vs localhost:<port>. With this setup you can define unique ports in package.json for each app so there are no conflicts and each project runs on its own local domain. Common approach outside JS ecosystem.

@MrBye32 @kamrify whole ass app to avoid having to literally change one single digit in a port number. On top of that, most frameworks automatically switch port when the intended one is in use.

@ihorvorotnov @kamrify It make sense, because right now at job I have four concurrent apps ruining, and talk with each other via REST so using named localhost make sense.

@kamrify @ducaswtf "share your localhost on the internet"

@kamrify Ngrok has been there for eternity

@kamrify why not:

@kamrify Awesome!! Why slim over ngrok? (just curios on differences)

slim = local dev + public sharing ngrok = mostly public sharing with slim you get real local HTTPS *.test domains plus project-level slim up/down from .slim.yaml ngrok is good for public URLs, but it doesn't natively do that local domain workflow.

@kamrify That sounds great! any password protection on endpoints, and is it easy to get backend calls proxied through the tunnel?

yes and yes for password protection: slim share --port 3000 --password secret

@kamrify hey @kamrify great product, I'd love to use but now getting error on signup

@kamrify Clever use of a reserved TLD.Nice.

@kamrify Cool thing. But kinda weird to see this on the homepage, and then be asked for a Pro upgrade later.

@kamrify is it powered by cloudflare workers?

nope

@kamrify @akinkunmi seems similar to

@kamrify Firee do you have a GitHub by any chance?

@kamrify Love the idea, but does it change the url everytime I run it + how is it different from ngrok?

@kamrify Ngrok?

@kamrify Great work man! Will give it a try

@kamrify upgraded to pro, great work. love the UI and I happen to have a use case for this right now so great timing.

@kamrify This is wicked. Would make mobile dev so much easier.

@kamrify so like a port tunnel ?

@kamrify That's super useful. Setting up https locally has always been a headache—this looks like a real game changer.

@kamrify This is low hanging fruit. Solve it by $5 vps + autossh + letsencrypt. Codex would set it up in 30 seconds

@kamrify every layer of dev friction that disappears is another reason why building software is approaching zero cost. tools like this + AI coding agents = anyone can ship production apps from a coffee shop in hours

@kamrify what font are you using? it's really pretty

@kamrify ngrok http 3000 ✅

@kamrify this video is DOPE, creating using remotion?

created using koboyo 👇

@kamrify @moayaan1911 At least like this out of courtesy, people 😆

@kamrify haha

@kamrify Have you heard of tunnel mole or local tunnel?

@kamrify How is it different from ngrok?

@kamrify so basically ngrok

@kamrify the .slim.yaml is the real unlock. ngrok means remembering flags every session. project-level config means the whole setup is committed and shared. that's the difference between a one-off tool and a repeatable workflow.

@kamrify @grok how Slim does this can you explain a bit? And is it safe to use?

@kamrify like vercel portless?

that still needs ports in URL, plus you can't do internet sharing with that

@kamrify Vscode allows you to forward your url publicly and ngrok the list goes on

@kamrify Great video too ! 😄

@kamrify Insane @tweem 2m views

@kamrify similiar like ?
