Microsoft teases a faster and configurable context menu (right-click menu) for Windows 11 after years of complaints! Marcus Ash, who leads Design and Research for Windows and Devices, says Microsoft is working on making context menus faster, simpler by default, and configurable to what you use most. That last part is huge. Windows 11’s context menu was supposed to fix the cluttered Windows 10 right-click menu. Instead, it became slower, padded, inconsistent, and still messy. You often need “Show more options” just to reach the old menu, which defeats the whole point of redesigning it. Now Microsoft is taking the same approach it used with Start and taskbar: give users control. Resizable Start. Movable taskbar. Smaller taskbar. Customizable Start sections. And now, configurable context menus. This is the Windows 11 reset users wanted 🥳

Really impressed by quality of Marvis-AI made by Prince Canuma & Lucas Newman, it's only 250M and uses less than 500MB in 4-bit 🤯 You only need 2 lines of code to run on macOS: pip install -U mlx-audio python -m mlx_audio.tts.generate --model Marvis-AI/marvis-tts-250m-v0.1 --stream \ --text "Hello there!" No reason not to give it a try!

When Ghostty detects a password input prompt, it now changes the cursor to a lock and on macOS enables the secure input API. When the secure input API is enabled, we show a neat, animated icon that explains what's going on when clicked. Another example of native UI wins (imo). Secure Input is the macOS system API that prevents accessibility APIs from reading your keystrokes, so things like screen recording software and so on can't read your passwords. Other terminals on macOS support secure input. I think only iTerm also supports secure input on password detection. So as a disclaimer, I'm not trying to claim this as a huge innovation, I just think our implementation is nice. 😊

Notepad, Calculator, Chrome, VLC, PowerPoint, Weather, and even the Epic Games Store now trigger the same Low Latency Profile behavior Microsoft first rolled out for the Windows shell in June. The moment you open an app, Windows briefly pushes the CPU close to its maximum frequency for one to three seconds, finishes the launch work faster, and then drops back to idle. This is called “race to sleep,” and it is not a lazy trick. macOS and Linux already do similar things. CPU utilization does not spike the same way, so this is not your PC suddenly working harder forever. It is a short frequency burst to make Windows feel more responsive. I know people love mocking Windows performance, and often for good reason, but this one actually works. Apps open faster now, especially on budget and older PCs where every second of delay is noticeable. Windows 11 is finally getting the kind of performance work it should have had from day one.
