You can build games right inside the app by just describing your idea. And GPT 5 is very good at turning ideas into amazing games! You can keep iterating on your game mechanic, upload custom image assets, and tweak the styling until it's just right. 2/6

When you're done, simply post the game into the feed where all your friends can play it. You'll even get notified when they like or comment, so you'll always know when they beat your high score. 3/6

I believe a new medium is about to emerge. Mini pieces of software, created and shared by anyone as easily as a Tiktok video. This new software-as-interactive-content needs a new platform. 4/6

A platform that merges creation with distribution and gives everyone a place where they can create amazing interactive experiences for themselves and for others. This is the big idea behind Spielwerk. Today we're taking the first step with games. 5/6

I'd love for you to try the app and send all your feedback my way. A platform like this is ultimately shaped by the community. Download Spielwerk here:

Ok this is going to sound really stupid and cynical, but hear me out. Compared to passively consuming tiktok, games actually ask a lot of a person. Add a button to each game that when you hold it down it auto-plays the game for the player. You can call it "fast forward" or whatever so the player feels fine pressing it. How many people do you think just hold the button down for hours?

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

haha thats a very interesting idea. I guess its similar to watching others play games on like twitch?

John Shedletsky's profile picture
John Shedletsky1 year ago

yeah doing some kind of twitch like thing is probably better. i wonder if you could sell access to the button...

extremely epic. only wish: redesign the app navigation, so that the games can use swipe gestures having buttons to navigate in-game prevents getting into flow and the game is the core, not the app itself imo

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

thanks man! I'm doing some things in the background to allow games that have swipe/drag gestures to cancel out swipe gestures from the app. It doesn't work all the time yet, but this might be the way to go, case by case

@dennismuellr game gesture up top, scroll gesture on handle

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

@dennismuellr that another option, yep. What do you think about all this UI at the bottom overlaying the game and preventing any buttons or other game UI to live there?

Preston's profile picture
Preston1 year ago

@dennismuellr it's tight, but alot to accomplish: - you want to see the game fill the screen - you need your game meta - you need a way to play at anytime and swipe at anytime

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

@dennismuellr yep, definitely a balance to strike

My kids would love this. They've created small HTML games with Bolt, etc. Asset creation is always where they get stuck. Any way to include a standard set of backgrounds/sprites/objects that could easily be integrated into their designs?

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

Yes! Planned to get it in before release but time was short. One of the next things I‘ll add for sure. One thing they can already do is upload their own assets, and they can generate them with chatgpt easily :) i did the same for one of my games

feels like a return to the Flash games era or early app store, Phone games are absolutely horrific now and want you to subscribe for $10 a month or are way too complex

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

the crazy thing is you can now simple build them yourself, for free. That industry is about to change in a major way

The app store is an absolute disaster. Huge opportunity. People legitimately want to play stuff like Flappy Bird

Brilliant, people will want this. I would add a party mode chatroom where there's chat on one side and the prompt on the other and you and your friends can jointly prompt the creation of a game. Then once everybody locks in, the game is generated-- something like that

super cool idea!

Wonderful stuff. As far as scripting games goes, what can devs use to create mini games?

Eike Drescher's profile picture
Eike Drescher1 year ago

currently they can simple prompt the AI and upload image assets for use inside the game :)

Thing same will emerge for Uighur interactions soon. Think dribble but reactive. Rive is already pretty close, but imo not the perfect experience for exploration atm.

zkcairo's profile picture

I don’t know too. Something social. A leaderboard is the social part of « competitive » game but for non competitive there gotta be something, maybe a replay or idk But just random ideas don’t follow them too closely
