Since Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from T20is, here something which I had written something for him few months back:(attaching an edit made by Amit Dubey which I found these lyrics fit aptly on Virat) March 2, 2008 This day holds great significance for Indian cricket because, on one hand, India defeated Australia in their own backyard in the first final of the CB series, and at the same time, nearly 6000 kilometers away, India's young brigade had won the Under-19 World Cup. After the World Cup victory, when this team returned to Bangalore from Kuala Lumpur, BCCI gave a grand welcome to the Under-19 team, and Kumble and Dravid were also present there. Dravid congratulated all the young players and imparted some wisdom. He said, "We are proud of you, but I want you to remember that from the Under-19 team that won the World Cup in 2000, only one member was part of the Indian team that won the CB Series." "What you have achieved is not everything, and your goal should be to win the World Cup one day." The young captain of that Under-19 team was listening carefully , and just three years later, he was part of the ODI World Cup-winning team. But the world had yet to witness the prowess of Kohli - the batter in a World Cup... By the next World Cup, Kohli had established himself among the World's best batsmen, but as in life, achieving everything in cricket is not easy. Kohli and the Indian team ended their 2015 World Cup campaign in disappointment. After becoming a regular part of the Indian team, 2015 was the first year when Kohli scored runs at an average of less than 40! Soon after, Kohli was given the responsibility of captaincy, which brought out a new brilliance in his batting. By the next World Cup, Kohli had scored 18 centuries & more than 4000 runs in ODIs at an average of 85 in just three years... Once again, India entered the 2019 World Cup as favorites and justified this tag, entering the semifinals as table toppers. But like in 2015, both Kohli & the Indian team were left with disappointment once again. Whereas the defeat in 2015 had shown us a new level of Kohli, after the loss in 2019, much had changed. In the meantime, there was COVID, a lack of regular games, a century drought, captaincy controversies, and numerous challenges, and another World Cup had arrived... The batsman who had scored more than 11,000 runs and 42 centuries between the 2011 World Cup and the 2023 World Cup (where no one else had even scored 10,000 runs or 30 centuries in ODIs)... I'm not even talking about Tests and T20Is where Kohli has set countless records. Despite all this, the expectation of "Doing even better" from fans and Kohli himself is the true mark of Virat's success. This "excellence" has always defined Virat, which is why a boy from West Delhi, along with Basu Shanker, trained himself like Olympic athletes and influenced not just fellow cricketers but the entire nation's fitness culture. Kohli's competition has never been with any cricketer, but with himself. Nonetheless, this World Cup was special too. Like in 2011, this World Cup was about playing and winning in front of his own people, and it must have reminded Kohli of Dravid's words once again: "What you have achieved is not everything." From winning the first match of this World Cup when India was 2/3 to sealing the victory, to exorcising the ghosts of 5/3 against the Kiwis in the semifinals with a 397/4, and breaking two long-standing records of his idol in front of him, only to get the biggest heartbreak of his career in the final against Australia... Such losses can break your mental toughness & especially in India where experts judges you even on the basis of franchise leagues,Virat too found himself again " evolving himself" in a format which he had already mastered... He came into this T20 World Cup with a new role & responsibility for the Team which supported by the Captain & Coach... He couldn't performed as per his fans expectations but you can see that willingness to prove that I can change myself with the demand of modern T20 even at final stage of my career... Virat is not just a name but a symbol that signifies: if there is truth in your dreams & strength in your resolve, everything is possible...

Cosmosis: UFOs & A New Reality is out now on Apple TV+ & Prime Video! I directed the entire series, and look forward to hearing what you all think about it. 🎥🎙 This tv show was born out of a shared vision to take the conversation about the UFO phenomenon beyond simply proving it’s real. We’ve aimed to explore the deeper questions: What does this mean for the nature of our reality? How do these experiences transform our understanding of ourselves and the universe? Cosmosis is an entirely independent production, which we felt was absolutely necessary to not feel pressure to “dumb it down” and to have true freedom to express ourselves. We don’t have a marketing budget, so word of mouth is very helpful if people support what we are doing. 🙏 Thank you for being part of this journey, and for the incredible support and encouragement you’ve offered over the past year. I hope this series makes you proud and sparks meaningful discussions across the world. With gratitude and respect- -Jay Feat. dwpasulka Dr. Michael P. Sometimes I don’t understand why Ajit Agarkar was and is always against Sanju Samson In 2023, India had 3 squads for the Asia Cup, Asian Games & ODI World Cup. 31 different players got selected across those tournaments & somehow Sanju wasn’t part of any squads. What’s even crazier is that he was picked as a reserve player for the Asia Cup, which meant he wasn’t part of the Asian Games squad & it also affected his plans to play County Cricket. So in the end he wasn’t part of the Asia Cup squad, wasn’t part of the Asian Games squad & couldn’t continue with his County plans either. Everyone who followed the ODI matches before the 2023 World Cup knew Sanju was the most deserving guy who wasn’t picked in the squad. When Sanju scored 3 T20I centuries as an opener in 2024, Ajit Agarkar openly said he was only playing because Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal were unavailable. Imagine saying that about a player who had just scored 3 centuries in 5 matches for India in T20Is something no one has done before in a year. Most players would get backed after performances like that. That was so disrespectful from the national selector. I wonder how Sanju would have felt that day. Then came the ODI explanation. Ajit Agarkar said Sanju wasn’t being picked because he was a top-order batter. But Sanju has literally batted everywhere in ODI cricket other than opening and his numbers have been excellent irrespective of the position. His last ODI innings was a match-winning century in a series decider against South Africa at Paarl, one of the toughest batting venues in the country, and after that innings he never played another ODI for India. Last year selectors picked ODI squad with 3 different WKs for a series & Sanju wasn’t one of them. That’s when the explanation came that Sanju is a top-order batter. But now Virat Kohli gets injured and India need a No.3 batter, yet Sanju still isn’t being considered despite being the last Indian batter other than Kohli to score an ODI century at No.3. So he wasn’t picked because he was a top-order batter, but when a top-order spot opens up he still isn’t picked. What kind of logic is that? And the most frustrating part is that it’s always the same guy missing out whenever an ICC event comes around when he deserve the most 🔹 2021 T20 World Cup 🔹 2022 T20 World Cup 🔹 2023 Asia Cup 🔹 2023 Asian Games 🔹 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup 🔹 2025 ICC Champions Trophy Every single time it’s Sanju Samson What’s even crazier is that during the T20 World Cup cycle he gets some chances in ODI squads while completely neglecting him in T20 squad , and vice versa during the ODI World Cup cycle he would suddenly appear in T20 squads. Not because he was getting consistent opportunities, but because he was never given a clear role or a long run in either format. 2-3 failures & he would be out again💔 No backing. No continuity. No clarity. Things have always been different when it comes to Sanju Samson First time he was picked for an ICC event was for the 2024 T20 World Cup, but didn’t get to play a single match & India won an ICC tournament after more than a decade The only ICC tournament Sanju Samson has actually played in during his entire 11-year international career was the 2026 T20 World Cup. The only ICC tournament he actually got an opportunity to play, he ended up being the best player of the tournament📈 One of the things I admire most about Sanju is that he has never shown frustration. He never complained, never held grudges against those who disrespected him, and never made excuses. He always kept a smile on his face, even during the lowest moments of his career 💎 Every opportunity had to be earned the hard way, every place in the squad had to be fought for, and every setback had to be overcome without any backing Even after winning the WorldCup as POTT, some people are still questioning his place in the team which makes me realise that every match for Sanju will always remain as a “Do or Die” game😅

🏎️ | 260624 | Since yesterday, a mysterious figure has been spotted at Zhuhai. My initial assumption was that he had been behind the wheel, as he was wearing racing boots in the photos shared by YIBO OFFICIAL. However, no videos or photos showed him getting in or out of the car just yet; all footage just showed him interacting with Yibo, Rio, and the rest of the UNO Racing team. Now, after research, I can confirm that the Mercedes-AMG factory driver accompanying UNO Racing during these private test sessions is Ralf Aron. He is also using his 2023 helmet for the practice sessions. Ralf Aron is an Estonian professional racing driver and Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver with experience across single-seater, endurance, and GT3 competition. After beginning his career in karting at the age of six, he rose through the junior formula ranks, winning the 2015 Italian Formula 4 Championship before competing in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Following his single-seater career, Aron expanded his expertise by taking on management and technical roles with Prema Racing and Sauber Motorsport, contributing to championship-winning campaigns in Formula Regional and the European Le Mans Series. In 2023, he returned to full-time competition as a Mercedes-AMG Junior Driver, finishing runner-up in the ADAC GT Masters and competing in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. Promoted to Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver in 2024, Aron has since competed in major international endurance events, including the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the 24 Hours of Spa, the Macau GT World Cup, and the Rolex 24 at Daytona. His current racing program includes GT World Challenge Asia, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, GT Open, and the Asian Le Mans Series, representing teams such as GetSpeed, Climax Racing, and Lone Star Racing. #WangYibo #WangYibo王一博 #王一博 #หวังอี้ป๋อ #ワンイーボー #왕이보 #85RACING #YIBO85

Group Farming & Climate-Resilient Agriculture: The Future of Maharashtra! 🌱 Delighted to be a part of 'Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup Awards 2024 Ceremony' in Balewadi, Pune with Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, thousands of farmers & champions across Maharashtra and team Paani Foundation. For many years, I have been closely observing the incredible initiatives of Paani Foundation. Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionism, initially started Paani Foundation in just 3 talukas, then expanded to 30, then 75, and today, the announcement for its implementation across the entire Maharashtra fills me with immense happiness and pride. Since 2015, Maharashtra has witnessed a Water Janandolan (people’s movement) through the Jalyukt Shivar initiative. During this, Aamir Khan and the Paani Foundation team stepped forward and volunteered. The initial planning and structures for various villages were developed, enabling 20,000 villages across Maharashtra to become self-reliant in tackling water scarcity. This Farmer Cup as the next step has greatly supported the group farming movement. Today, various farmer groups are actively working, and a new policy for group farming will be introduced. Additionally, the necessary assistance and support required for these groups will be provided. The Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjeevani Yojana, launched in collaboration with the World Bank, focuses on climate-resilient agriculture. The first phase, with an investment of ₹4,000 crore, was highly impactful, prompting the World Bank to approve ₹6,000 crore for the second phase. This phase has significantly improved and transformed farming practices. Additionally, villages that were initially not part of the scheme are now requesting inclusion, proving that this initiative has been immensely beneficial for farmers. The goal is to attract investment in farming, as capital expenditure will empower farmers and enhance their capabilities. Group farming will further benefit them by reducing costs and increasing production. Additionally, drip irrigation will be provided to farmers who request it, ensuring sustainable and efficient water use. Minister Manikrao Kokate, Founder of Bhartiya Jain Sangathan Shantilal ji Mutha, and other dignitaries were present too. This is the first promo/teaser for my forthcoming documentary film series, ‘The Palestine Laboratory’, made with the great UK production company Black Leaf Films and broadcast on Al Jazeera English. Episode 1 is broadcast on 30th January, 2025, with Episode 2 following at the same time on the 6th February. Both episodes will be available on Al Jazeera’s website and YouTube (for free and complete global access). The Palestine Laboratory is a ground-breaking two-part series (2 x 47 mins) that’s based on my global best-selling Verso Books Scribe Publications book of the same name. In Part 1, in Israel and Palestine, I examine how the country positions itself as a world leader in hi-tech weapons and surveillance technology, with glossy promotions from the top weapons manufactures that boast their products have been “tested” and “proven” in “battle”. Hearing from both Israelis and Palestinians, I explore how the industry understands what labels like “tested” in Palestine means and how the military intelligence Unit 8200 acts as an incubator for Israeli surveillance tech start ups. I also examines Israel’s use of AI targeting systems in Gaza. In Part 2, the investigation takes me on an international journey through Europe, India, Mexico, South Africa and the USA as I reveal how this “technology of occupation” is also used to subjugate people and surveil political dissidents, human rights defenders and journalists all over the world. This has been a massive, worldwide investigation, initiated in 2022 before my book was even released (though it was all filmed in 2024), with a huge team of remarkable researchers, producers, photographers, journalists and cinematographers. Most can’t be named due to legitimate fears for their safety and future work opportunities. I thank them all for their dedication and commitment to getting this timely story out. Much more in the coming weeks with clips, photos and information. Please share far and wide. Independent journalism can only thrive with your support.

Gemini-1.5 Pro has its spotlight stolen today, and people are poking fun at Sora vs Google memes. Well, I think it's the biggest boost in LLM capability so far in 2024. v1.5's 10M token context (1) excels at retrieval; (2) generalizes zero-shot to extremely long instructions like full tutorials and codebases; and (3) works across modalities such as text, audio, and video. Here's a stunning example: v1.5 learns to translate from English to Kalamang purely in context, following a full linguistic manual at inference time. Kalamang is a language spoken by fewer than 200 speakers in western New Guinea. Gemini has never seen this language during training and is only provided with 500 pages of linguistic documentation, a dictionary, and ~400 parallel sentences in context. It basically acquires a sophisticated new skill in the neural activations, instead of gradient finetuning. I talked about the Myth of Context Length many times before: don't get too excited by claims of 1M or even 1B context tokens. LSTMs already achieved literally infinite context length 25 yrs ago! What truly matters is how well the model actually uses the context to solve real-world problems, and Gemini-1.5 has surpassed the SOTA with flying colors. The paper is also well-written with lots of solid quantitative analysis on in-context memorization and generalization. Paper: “Gemini 1.5: Unlocking multimodal understanding across millions of tokens of context” Congrats to Jeff Dean Oriol Vinyals Sundar Pichai and team!
