“The Telecaster is like the heart and soul of rock and roll music.” In his legendary career with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Dirty Knobs, Mike Campbell has crafted some of rock’s greatest riffs – often with a Telecaster in hand. But one guitar stands apart: a modified 1972 Tele named the “Red Dog.” During the recording of 1979’s Damn the Torpedoes, it became the missing link behind one of the Heartbreakers’ most iconic tracks: “Refugee.” Learn more:
