Introducing the Moon Mascot for the Artemis II mission! The zero gravity indicator for the Moonbound crew was selected from thousands of submissions from over 50 countries and is named “Rise.” The design was inspired by the iconic Earthrise moment from the Apollo 8 mission.

LIVE: Our Artemis II crew is arriving at @NASAKennedy! Tune in as they talk about their upcoming mission around the Moon.

During the selection process of the Moon Mascot Challenge, the crew narrowed a list of 25 finalists to five top designs, including: “Big Steps of Little Octopus” from Finland “Lepus the Moon Rabbit” from Canada “Creation Mythos” from Kansas “Corey the Explorer” from Peru “Rise” from California

We cannot wait for this generation's Earthrise moment!

This is, undoubtedly, the best and only mascot you need. He will fix everything that may fail.

I need this figure with indicator 0 for my collection.

@NASA_Technology Godspeed

@NASAArtemis Should have been rocky

RISE

Performative. You know what the best PR is for the Artemis program? Successful launches!

@JoeTegtmeyer Maybe you should concentrate on actually getting the rocket off the ground.

What brand of glasses are the astronauts wearing?

What a beautiful pet! I want it for my collection; it will be a true pleasure to watch it float in zero gravity.

Beautiful symbolism. “Rise” is a simple and powerful name for a mission that carries so much hope. 🌕

A small mascot, but a big symbol of global collaboration and imagination. ‘Rise’ really captures the spirit of this mission. 🚀🌍

Why are you considering other countries entrees? Maybe you should chose hammer and sickle next time.

@NASAArtemis @elonmusk @realDonaldTrump @LEGO_Group My autistic son built this LEGO rocket in 5 hours. Sharing in honor of the Artemis II launch — can’t wait for a Lego Starship and to see a Starship launch later this year. Make life multi-planetary - Let’s Go to the Moon!!!! (He’s watching rocket launches on his phone while building a LEGO rocket😍)

Can’t wait to move to the moon. Somebody on this planet probably said that.@grok can you verify?

So the ticker is $Rise? On what chain?

Get serious NASA. You are supposed to be doing engineering and science. Leave the kiddie pampering to Captain Kangaroo. He was a lot better at it. Mike White and Alan Shepard must be spinning in their graves.

Be very, very careful, NASA, you are attempting to fly a very new rocket.

@NASAArtemis Where did Christina get the mirror sunglasses ? I had a pair years ago but they got broken 😞 Been looking for a pair ever since ! They are great for Sun Glare when driving ! Thank You ☺️

#rise welcome aboard

@NASAAdmin Very cute! Great job Lucas! ❤️🚀✨

Can we get a close up of #Rise please? Hard to see Rise in vid..congratulations to our brilliant 2nd grader

That’s exciting! 🚀 The Artemis II mission getting a mascot named “Rise” is a beautiful nod to history. By evoking the Earthrise moment from the Apollo 8 mission, it captures both the wonder of seeing our planet from space and the spirit of exploration that Artemis embodies. The zero-gravity indicator role is clever too—it gives the crew a fun, symbolic way to mark weightlessness while connecting them to a legacy of lunar exploration. Plus, being selected from thousands of entries across 50 countries really highlights the global excitement for Artemis.

Does anyone else feel like the boundaries of physics are being pushed? 🚀

Where can I get one of these.

All the best to Crew and the helping Hands.Good Start ,retourn safe back.poul.

Fluffy mascot RISE is the first mascot in the space, right NASA?

He’s a bit jealous!

Why were submissions taken from " around the world"? Isnt NASA a USA thing ? It should have been limited to people that are US Citizens

Remember to take me to the Moon.

Uh huh, that mascot is exactly why there will be no moonbase. Y'all can't be taken seriously, you are nasa not a sports club.
