NEW: UK counter-terror police say a "significant operation" is underway as investigators pursue multiple lines of inquiry into the suspected terror plot surrounding a base used by the U.S. Air Force. Five British men have been arrested on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offenses as police examine vehicles found at the scene. No improvised explosives have been found. Authorities have also finished searching properties in London, but are not revealing further details as the investigation continues. The base has been used by the U.S. Air Force for decades, including in its campaign against Iran, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the situation clearly involved a foreign actor. Five men were arrested for terrorism and explosives, targeting a British base where you had U.S. soldiers who were launching air attacks on Iran. On the face of it, it appears this was a terrorist attack that was directly targeting U.S. military forces. The British Prime Minister said they have evidence that Iran was responsible or was linked. If that is demonstrated, I think President Trump is going to respond with very significant consequences for Iran. If you're targeting American servicemen and women and threatening their lives, there will be consequences.

Terror plot near US bomber base in Britain? Five arrested British police arrested five UK nationals aged 23 to 25 on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences. The suspects were detained after a local farmer reported three large white vans heading toward RAF Fairford. The base hosts US bombers used in missions against Iran. Investigators are examining several possible motives. A source cited by Reuters said an Iran-linked motive was considered the most likely, while a Russian sabotage operation and an Islamist plot were also being looked at. Police imposed a 400-metre cordon around the base and evacuated residents from 85 homes. Iran’s embassy in London denied any involvement.
