Glad it was yummy, but looks a bit small. Some restaurants in Illinois serve tenderloins as big as a dinner plate.

Actually, No. 1 (at a totally different location) shut down in the 70's, when the old landlord raised the rent too much. Then it burned down. BTW, thanks for holding the door. I'm the guy in the wheelchair who was going out when you came in (not pictured here).

Iowa loves its Tenderlions. While here in Iowa you should do the waterfall route. Iowa is home to 14 gorgeous waterfalls. You can do it in one day, or take your time and do it two days.

If you can get any part of the bun on your first bite, it isn't a proper pork tenderloin sandwich.

A half block away is Pagliai's Pizza, the best pizza in the universe! If you are still in town, give it a try. No salad bar, no breadsticks, just excellent thin crust pizza. It's been in IC for over 60 years, 50 at the current location. Been going there since the 70s myself.

Every Sunday afternoon/evening for dinner with girlfriends my freshman & sophomore years. Taunted the pizza makers in Pagliai's window with silliness on the walk home. Iconic.

Number 1 closed in 1978, FYI.

I would stop there at least 3 times a week for lunch when I was in college.
