Then why they don't have it in their current model? Cuz they couldn't do it "properly" hence they removed it. It's not about who did first but who did it best. Now watch Samsung coming out with variable apertures in their next flagship.

samsung's was two fixed apertures, f1.5 and f2.4. apple's is six blades across four settings with a developer api, so any camera app can drive the exposure, not just the stock one. that api is the piece that changes what you can build.
